| | 59:39/11:55 ave, best 8:30, splits- 13:46, 11:35, 11:57(walked a block of STEEP up-hill), 11:27, 10:55 OK- so I have some confirmation of an idea that was sparked by a comment that Sarah(FastRunningMommy) made. When I first started running, BB (before blog), my goal was to be able to run 3 miles 5 days a week, and 6 miles on Sat. Once I got there, I would work on getting all of those miles to 10 mm before I would increase my miles. Well, Sarah had said something about that style of training being a theory of Sasha's for increasing speed. I need to PM him for clarification. Secondly, I was reading a comment made about a runner who had been noticing that after all of her speed work, her recover jog was consistently faster than her easy jog day pace. The response by Sasha was, if I understood it correctly, was that if the recovery jog was consitently that faster pace, it would be safe to run the easy jog days at that pace. Again, I need more clarification. What do y'all think???
So, taking both of those things to heart, and considering my personal training and the fact that I am NOT GETTING FASTER, I am going to implement both of those theories. Whenever I have done speed work, my recovery pace is always in the 11's. So, after a mile warm up, I am going to run between 11:30-12mm for a month and see what happens, injury wise. Also, I am going to keep my miles in the 30's, where I know that I am pretty injury free, for a while as I work to increase my pace. In a month, if I am still injury free, then I am going to consider upping that pace to between 11-11:30. It is all working itself out in my head. After two months, I will keep the easy jogs at that pace and resume the tempo work one day a week and see what my recovery pace levels out at. My big thought is that I am just really comfy where I am, and am not pushing myself. This trial should show me if I am being lazy or am really running at a pace that keeps me injury free. If I have to run slowly to keep injuries at bay, than so be it. BUT, if I am lazy and need to pick things up a bit, then this experiment should show that :) Here's hoping I am LAZY!!!
What do you think, REALLY, I am curious????

| | 800 m swim 2+ mile walk with the AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL Michelle. It was so fun to go for a walk with Michelle today. We went a bit too far... oops, but she seemed GREAT! I love that I can keep up with her for a bit here until she is back in the saddle again :) Heck, I'll take it! In the past when she has run with me, I can't talk at all cause she is KICKING MY BUM. Since I could talk today, I TALKED HER POOR EAR OFF! ;) Thanks Michelle! You are the BEST! Oh, and for any readers out there, Michelle is putting on a 5k and bike race in Woodland Hills on the 22nd of August. It should be SUPER FUN for the whole family!!! :) I wonder if she will have an AMAZING and beautiful Rooster for a grand prize??? I may have to donate one ;) MACK- before you even think of it- YOU CANNOT DONATE YOURS!!! ;D
2.8 miles, 32:22/11:33 ave , Splits-11:32, 11:34, 9:16 (stop light ;p) Having already warmed up, I just went straight in to the 12mm thing. The swimming really poops me out! The pool is only open for another month, so I will be really curious to see how my running changes once I am not swimming anymore. Mile one was pretty comfy, mile two was OK and mile 3 (.8 ;) was tiring until the end. I would have liked to go 2 miles more, but I needed to get home so Anna could head off to pipe practice :)

| | 2.75 on the DREADMILL!!! I woke up at 5:30 to go swimming, went to the bathroom and went back to bed until 8:15. I cannot make good decisions at 5:30 am. I am SO easily swayed by any argument. I am WEAK! I am a follower! My bad evil lazy side has no trouble beating up my good, smart, hard working side. Wow, I never realized that I had this huge bully in me, making me do whatever it wants! I am a slave to myself. Man- what an epiphany! So, how do I get Evil Marion to SHUT THE HECK UP!!! push ups, sit ups, County Swim Team Finals. The first night of three :) Each of our swimmers is going to a different meet. I'd better get moving.

Swimming- 800 m IM Running- 1:10:25 / 11:44 ave, best 8:58, splits- 12:11, 12:29(short, steep up hill, walked), 11:58, 11:40, 11:14, 10:53 Smooth, you are a genius! I packed all of my stuff yesterday after your comment and you know what? When my alarm went off- I swore at it- turned it off, rolled out of bed, said my prayers and off I went :) Yes, people with potty mouths pray! ;D Anyway- the swim was great and is getting easier and faster all the time :) The run was not bad at all today :) I ran on the canal trail/dirt road for half of the miles. It was a bit slow, as I had to traverse and navigate a sea of rocks and pot holes. My last two miles were on the road and it shows. The first mile and a quarter was on the road too :) I hope you all have a GREAT day :) I am not sure what I will do today, it's kinda open, which is very nice :) Friday and Saturday are the rest of the league finals. Fordy took 11th in freestyle, 3rd in breast stroke and 6th in back stroke. He's such a cute little fish :) That little boy could swim before he walked. At the pool he used to scare the crud out of the life guards that did not know him. As a matter of fact, Ford's first love was Chizel (new to the blog). She was a life guard at our pool and he would just stare at her when he wasn't under water. He has such great taste :)

Adventures at Michelle's on a Thursday night in July :) See what happens when I have an afternoon free??? I am not sure why we wasted all that money at BYU, I should have gone to beauty school... but wait- I did this fabulous job with NO training what so ever ;)
This is the fancy up-do we came up with :) Doesn't she look HOT??!!??
This is "Fluffy" the cat. Fluffy is a bit more "fluffy" than Michelle would like to admit. (Fluffy is FAT!!)
Here is GORGEOUS Michelle with her fabulous new red hair! Paul just LOVES it!! :) I REALLY looks GREAT!!! :D
Now that my boys have spent an evening with Michelle's boys, they want to have a sleep over, play dates and MOVE next door. PS- I want to move next door too. Michelle's home is BEAUTIFUL and I love her neighborhood :) Plus I could sled down her driveway and Ben could make me cookies!
1:00:00 for 5.21 miles 11:30 ave, splits- 12:58, 11:37, 11:28, 11:16, 11:08, walked for the last mile :( I saw my first fox :) It was VERY exciting :) Every thing was GREAT today until I came off of the canal road and there is that VERY steep down hill for a 1/2 blockish. Well, my ITB just had a FIT! I ran for about another mile and then had to walk. It quit being SO mad after walking for a 1/2 block, so I ran again and YELP! It did not like that, so I walked the rest of the way. I stretched it and am icing it as I type. Any ideas? It is my right side. My hip flexors and ITB have bothered my right hip forever and a day, just never in my knee before. Too many miles? Too much speed? (Don't laugh at my "speed") What should I do tomorrow? I only had 6 planned. Maybe just 4 flat?

Swim League finals are FINALLY over! 6.5 hours Wednesday night, 6 hours Friday night, and 6 hours today. The kids all did GREAT and had a TON of fun. I am pooped out! And, wouldn't you know it, we are off to the pool for an afternoon with Michelle and her sweet boys. I love how kids become the very best friends in a matter of minutes. I am hoping to run this evening. My knee feels GREAT! I am so pleased :) "Running is good for you. Some days you feel it, other days you just have to believe." -Marc Parent 800 m IM :) It felt really hard this evening. I was pretty much dying after the first 50.
