It was 33 degrees this morning....a little cool.  The weather is supposed to get nasty in a couple days.  Today's high is going to be 86, Wednesday's forecast high is.....46???  I think the nice weather we have been enjoying is about done.  I ran 8.52 miles nice and easy today.  I will run a few MP miles tomorrow and then easy on Wed and Thurs.

5 days til SGM.........

It was 66 degrees and windy this morning.  It's the warm and windy before the nasty stuff hit tomorrow.  I ran 7.11 miles with 5 good miles after warm-up.

I found out last night that my son will not be going with me to SGM.  He just got a harvest job so he will be working.  So....for the 7th straight year I will be driving alone.  Anybody need a ride???

So the bad weather is here....  When I got up it was 35 degrees and windy with a rain/snow mix occurring outside.  By the time I started my run it had stopped raining but it was cold and wet.  The houses just up the hill had snow on the rooftops and car windshields.  I ran 5.52 miles nice and easy just to stay loose for St. George.

It was 29 degrees outside this morning with a layer of snow in my yard.  The wind chill was 22 and the streets in my neighborhood looked like they could be slick so I opted for any easy treadmill run. I certainly did not want to slip and fall 2 days before a race.  I ran 4 easy miles just to stay loose.  I leave for St. George early tomorrow morning.

Suffice to say.....I was not very happy with my performance today.  The conditions were good, I just wasn't fast.  It was about 39 degrees at the start and probably only 55 or so when I finished so we could not have asked for better temperatures.  There was some headwinds after we went up Veyo, but it wasn't really an issue.

I started out running comfortably but after Veyo I ran some terrible miles the next 4 or 5.  I was hoping to pick it up in the 2nd half but it just wasn't there.  I felt tired and couldn't get the leg turnover I needed to take advantage of the hills.

I am trying to be positive......this was my 75th marathon in 8 years and it was my 6th fastest.  I was just wanting that "break-out" performance that I know is hiding somewhere inside me.  Several others had a FABULOUS day.  Paul and Amber SHATTERED their PR's and I am so happy for them.

Here are my splits....

1.  6:31

2.  6:38

3.  6:26

4.  6:21

Half-split  1:29:39  (I wanted a 1:26-1:27)

14.  6:54

15.  6:44

16.  6:38

17.  6:47

18.  6:49

19.  7:15  (last real uphill)

20.  6:55

21.  6:42
