It was 61 degrees when I started this morning. 75 when I finished. I ran my standard loop, including the trail above Satterfield. I ran 11.29 pretty good miles and was very hot when I finished. We have our group 5K and BBQ tonght at 6:30. It's supposed to be around 90 at that time.....YUCK!
It was 92 degrees at 6:00pm when I drove to the spot where I left my vehicle with the supplies for the much-needed water stop at the halfway point of our 5K. From there I ran the first 1/2 backwards which included a not so nice half mile hill climb on a gravel road. Did I mention it was 92 degrees? I needed to run the route to ensure the gate was still open at the top of the hill. Luckily it was. I ran to the start of our 5K to help with instructions and last minute preparations. We run this as a prediction race so everyone can leave when they want...but....they have to try and finish as close to 7:37:30 as possible and they are not allowed to wear a watch or any other timing device. I left right after the first slowest runners so I would be able to get to the water stop first and get it set up. I had barely set up the table and filled a few cups when the first runners arrived. They were very appreciative for the water. I spent the next 20 minutes manning the station and taking pictures. When the last (fastest) runners came through I gathered up all the supplies and picked up the trash and drove to the finish line to take more pictures. Then we had our usual steak BBQ and had a great time. I ran 3.16 hot miles.
