1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Warmed up with the dog and then each of my boys, consecutively, for a total or 1.44.

Then I ran 3 miles alone, with splits of 10:01, 10:43, 10:15.  I don't know why my second mile is always so much slower than the rest of my run, I guess it was just a little teeny tiny bit uphill in parts, so I'll blame that. :)

Thanks everyone who wished James happy birthday yesterday!  He's such a good guy.

Hey!  Fall is finally here!!! I would like to take a quick minute and say how GRATEFUL I am that I made it through my first Arizona summer as a runner and didn't quit!!!!  Hallelujah!  Now it seems cooler and nicer every time I go, and in addition to that, running feels so much more comfortable and energizing now than it did those first few months.  It's all downhill for the next 8 months or so!

You have really been consistently putting in the miles. Congratulations! Sorry about the piano lessons. I only wish I could play. I actually took lessons for many years as a child, but I am not musical at all. You would never know I have had any musical training at all!

Thanks Lulu. I feel a little bit sheepish because I missed a running day yesterday for the first time in weeks, but there were extenuating circumstances. Very extenuating. Ya, that's it.

As for your music, blame it on your piano teacher. She'll never know, and anyways, I personally think anybody who takes for 2-3 years should be able to play for the rest of their life, if the teacher emphasizes the right stuff. Geez, I hope no other piano teachers out there read this and get mad. Anyway, if you ever pick it back up, I'm sure you'll progress really quickly.

I lived in North Scottsdale for one year (including the summer) and Tucson for 2 years (but thankfully just two summers).

Surviving the summer there is just as harrowing as surviving winter in many other extreme climes.

Congratulations for surviving! Did you feel like you learned some techniques to help make your next running-summer better?
