Lybi- I have been in outer space or something and didn't have a chance to read your race report until just now. Good job! You had a great time! Way to go with the win as well. I need a race like that to get my confidence back up. Way to go!

About missionary runs...

I met my neighbor, Jade, a few days after we moved here. I asked her if she was interested in running together and she said sure. Over the first couple of runs we found out a little more about each other. Jade has lived her whole life in Iowa and was a gymnist for Iowa State University. And she is very religious. Her husband's dad is the pastor at the church they go to. It's a non-denominational and it's big into fellowshiping and proselyting. Monday she asked me what makes my church different than Christians. I told her (this is the very, very short version of what I said) we are Christians and Jesus Christ is the "corner stone" of our religion. I told her we do believe in modern day revelation and that there is a prophet of God on earth today.

I blew it in some ways that I didn't take the time to share my testimony with her. I hope I get another chance.

The rest of the run we talked about who chooses the next prophet and Jade talked about how her church is creating leaders and helping people find God. There are some wonderful aspects to her church, but I think I disappointed her when I would talk about how our church believes or does the same thing.

Jade said she was looking for ways to meet people so she could tell them about her church. So when I was in a running store yesterday, I saw that they had a free group run on Sundays--open to anybody. I gave her the flier.

I hope to be Jade's friend, but I don't know how successful I am.

Today on our run, religion did not come up. Maybe on Friday I'll ask if she has any more questions about my church.

I guess as ward mission leader you could organize group runs. I think being a friend and trying to help them is a good way to do missionary service. However, I need to be more bold in saying how deeply I believe in the restoration, in our prophet, in God, in our Savior, and in the scriptures. Good luck with your calling.

Lybi, hands up in the air, way to go. I have often wondered why runners don't do a victory dance, jumping chest bumps or some other exciting exclamation of the personal victory at hand. Mostly, we are all too exhausted. By the way, as I am writing this comment, two red tail hawks are soring, looking for prey, outside my window.

I guess that peachy moon was an eclipse. When I was running home from work I saw it the whole way home and never even really noticed. (I'm sure I wasn't asleep, and even if I was there are no laws agianst that right?) But then thinking back I can vaguely remeber there was something different about it!! kinda like it was in a dream or something. I don't have any races in mind right now, just enjoying getting out. These cooler mornings feel really good and so I think that it just feels good to get out and strech the legs. I definatley agree, No racing in St. Geogre.... I am the one who will be left in the dust and I see paramedics everynight at work so never interested in seeing them outside of that!!!!
