Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I intended to run 4 miles and only got around to 2.  Holly ran a whole mile without stopping!  She is improving very quickly, I think.  Then we did pushups and crunches and whatever else we could think of that would make us sore the next day.

Oh, my little son!  I took him to the orthopedic Dr. today.  Bad news... his little bone is in the wrong place to heal.  It is 15 degrees off.  I hadn't even realized that it was broken all the way through.  The Dr.  said it had just shifted around bc his chubby little arms don't really let the cast hold the bones perfectly still.  He said to give it one more week for it to (hopefully) straighten out.  Then we go back, and if it is not properly aligned, they will have to either rebreak it or do surgery.  I would really appreciate any prayers on my little guy's behalf!  His name is Adam.

Oh, Lybi! So sorry to hear about Adam's troubles! Where's the guarantee the bone won't shift again even if they re-break it? I would think they can do a better job with the cast, so that it holds position better, or put his arm in a sling so that it doesn't move so much. Poor little guy. I sure am hoping for the best.

I highly recommend you run tonight. Maybe it'll help to take your thoughts off the situation a little. There is nothing you can do but worry, and it won't help much. Get out and expend some energy, maybe you'll feel a bit better.

Hang in there! sometimes those little bones can do some crazy(good) things too! I hope it heals up and everything turns out o.k. Did you get your 4 miles in? Going from not feeling like you've got time to the 4 miles is great!

Hey I just read your comment to Christi...We couldn't hate you, your the envy of every girl on this blog...well maybe the entire planet! Does he do the grocery shopping too! That would be just too much for me to handle, maybe you better not answer that!

Lybi- yah, I'm hating you that your hubby cooks- j.k.! Jim cooks out of necessity- its that or he won't eat! Sorry to hear about Adams arm, I will keep him in my prayers.

I just read Michelle's comment about how bones can suprise you- I agree. My little niece (2 yrs old) just broke her arm a couple months ago and they thought the same thing, but after some extra time in the cast, she was OK. Hopefully it will be the same for Adam...

Lybi:

I came and looked at your blog after you posted such a nice and encouraging comment on mine. You and your son are in my thoughts and prayers. Kids are very resilient and I'm sure he'll be fine. Please don't forget to to spend some time taking care of yourself during all of this.

Thanks guys! You are all so sweet. It really is a boost to get these concerned comments. I am at peace about it, and Adam is happy. Time will tell.
