Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I lost 2 lbs. again this week.  The WW lady looked at me a little strangely and said to make sure I am eating enough.  (I started out in my healthy weight range to begin with--but if it's up to me, I'd rather be at the lower end of healthy than the high end, especially for running.)  I promise I am eating well, but I need to factor my exercise into my eating plan.  I haven't been bothering to figure it out.  This next week I'm just going to try for maintenance.  I don't want to stress my body and get sick.

I bought new shoes!  They are Brookes Adrenaline GTS7.   They are supposed to arrive tomorrow.  Yay!  When I had my gait analysis done, I took the opportunity to get 2 really great running outfits.  They felt and looked perfect at the store, but I have to admit, I got home and looked at the cranberry colored one and thought holy pink!    I'm going to look like a flamingo running down the street.  Good thing I usually run when it is dark.  Hopefully it will fade a little with hard use!

.5 with my little tiny guys.  3 miles on the treadmill nice and easy.  I definitely feel I could run farther.  I'm just trying to be gradual about my mileage so I stay strong.

Good luck all you bloggers who have big races this weekend!  I am so excited you would think I was running.  Thought for the day: the fear of failure is worse than failure itself, because the fear of failure can keep you from trying at all!  You will overcome!

In part, thanks to you, I'm going to join WW and I'm really excited about it! I thought of going to a meeting today, but I thought that might not be a good idea before the weekend? Maybe a Monday start would be better? Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes. Right now I'm at the top of the healthy range and for me, its about 8 lbs too much. I really can't go this alone, I need structure!

As far as your comment about well rounded- really I think I've just been lazy about running since the 1/2 marathon. I hope to get my miles back up next week. Have a great weekend!

Great job running - you didn't tell me you did 3 miles on the treadmill. 3.5 for the day would be the longest training run you have done so far, and your longest run since Pat's run. You are doing awesome - just keep up the good work! Love you!

You're doing great, Lybi! I think your goal of 25 min. in 5K by November is way too conservative. You're likely to break 25 much sooner. When is your next race? You may surprise yourself! And, if you keep training consistently, you'll be closer to 23min. (or faster)in November. It is a great, thrilling ride to see yourself improve every race when you first start training. Enjoy it, and I hope you catch the bug :).

Christi - I would attribute Lybi's success to consistent running more than WW. WW advice for her was to get fatter!

I think WW has helped. Exercising alone has never helped me lose weight because I just eat more--same thing with nursing a baby. Dieting alone is too depressing to do very long. Diet and exercise are the perfect combo for me. You just need to do what works for you, Christi. I'm sure you'll reach your goal soon.

Maria and James thanks so much for the encouragement! I'm beaming right now.
