1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I finally got to 30 miles in a week. Hooray!!! 30.7 to be exact.

Nice 5 miler today with Christine. Splits of 9:52, 9:56, 10:15, 9:37, 9:38. It felt pretty easy. The hardest part is the first little bit, when the whole run is is front of me.

Honestly, I am looking forward to just taking it easy the rest of the weekend. This last week I felt like I was constantly running. How the heck do some of you put in 2-3 times as much as this every week!?!

I think my body is holding up pretty well, but I do feel a little sore in my calves, quads, and gluts. I should probably hang out at 30 a week for the rest of this month to get used to it before increasing. Does that sound right?

By the way...if you are planning on doing the Canyonlands half marathon on March 8th, you better make your room reservations soon. There is info on Paul Peterson's blog from yesterday about cabins that sound really cool. There is also Moab Valley Inn, $107. a night, including tax.

Nice job! What's your next mileage goal?

From Christi on Sat, Nov 10, 2007 at 14:59:24

Good job w/ mileage this week. I know what you mean about feeling like constantly running! Any fun Turkey Trots happening around you soon?

From Lybi on Sat, Nov 10, 2007 at 16:04:46

Stacy my next goal is to do it (30) again! 2 more weeks at least. Sound boring? Sign me up.

Christi there is a great Turkey Trot here, but I'll be in North Carolina. That's going to be tricky just getting in the miles during that trip.

From Michael on Sat, Nov 10, 2007 at 20:58:02

Way to run Lybi - great job in increasing your miles and being consistent. My miles go up/down like a yo-yo which probably isnt ideal for training

From Brent on Sat, Nov 10, 2007 at 21:25:04

Lybi 30 miles is a good base, get use to it a few weeks before moving up, especially if your sore from the mileage. Sasha would likely have a take on your training. Good work. Some day, 5 miles will seem like nothing for you, just ask James. The awards thing today, sad event, they call out the 11 and under boys, first three, they all ran up to the person announcing, like they were going to get an award. It is one thing to disappoint adults, it is quite another to disappoint the kids. Stay Cool B of BS Rools out.

From Sasha Pachev on Sat, Nov 10, 2007 at 23:07:50

Congratulations on being consistent. Yes, 30 miles a week is a healthy training volume for you right now, stay right there.

120/week feels like you are running all the time indeed, but it is a great feeling. That is what a human body is supposed to be doing. We have figured out how to produce more than enough for survival without much physical activity, which in and of itself would not be bad at all had this not led to creating a sedentary culture with sedentary expectations. So we believe the body is supposed to sit rather than run, and train it for sitting starting as early as school age, but this is not natural.

Great job, Lybi!!!! Did you see that you're right next to James on the mileage board? How cool!

I'm bummed that I didn't get a chance to get out yesterday - that would've been finally 5 days in a row for me. Oh well. Next week - new goal! Luv ya. How did your Saturday cleaning go? Sorry I couldn't chat longer, but I'm glad I was able to get my run in!!

From James on Sun, Nov 11, 2007 at 00:58:57

I think she was talking about your husband, but it was me that you were next to. Good job on the miles, I don't know about that .7 miles though. You should have rounded to 31 miles and been tied with me. Oh wait, I did run an extra .1 miles so I would still be ahead!

I don't know if I really look like Mills or not, but Paul agreed so it must be true.

From Lybi on Sun, Nov 11, 2007 at 01:01:35

Doh! I better go out right now and run half a mile so I can keep up with the Billy Mills impersonator on my running blog...;)

From James on Sun, Nov 11, 2007 at 01:06:17

I thought was reading "Cody mileage" when when I saw that 30.70098654329 on the mileage board!

I just started playing the piano, from scratch, a couple of weeks ago and love it. I'm pretty patient and determined, when I want to be. Give me ten years and I'll have a glimpse of what you already know. I'm certain your encouragement and tips will help, if you feel so inclined...even though this is a running blog. By the way, happy running!

Speaking of Billy Mills, my kid (Falcon) is excited as Billy Mills will be the guest speaker at the ceremony for the kids National USATF championships in Kansas next month. He hopes to get his autograph which they said he will do - but I imagine a long line and its the night before the race so hope we have time

From laura on Sun, Nov 11, 2007 at 22:27:43

Ooops. I didn't realize that "James" wasn't James W. ha, ha! Sorry James ... both of you. I didn't mean to mix you up.
