1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2 miles on treadmill 5.3 mph, until the last 1/2 mile, then 6 mph.  Felt pretty good.  Breathed pretty hard at the end.  It is very humbling to note that 6 mph feels fast to me.  Yikes.  Oh well, at least I am getting healthier.

Piano: 1 1/2 hours practice, 1 1/2 hours in concert

*Phew* Did the concert . . . it's over!.  So glad to be free from that pressure!

Hallelujah!

How did the concert go? I think its wonderful that you are keeping up with that part of yourself along w/ 3 kids! That's great! You'll have to let me know how WW goes. I've often thought about joining, but felt silly because I only have about 10 to lose- but sounds like you don't have much to lose either. I'm looking at your pic- you look great! I know people who've had great success on weight watchers. My strategy for now is portion control- planning my meals better and cutting back on eating out (my family's weakness!)

Chrisi - no need for weight watchers. Just post your daily menu in your blog along with your workouts. Free and effective.

Lybi - if 6 mph feels hard keep it lower. Also, do not raise the incline any more than 1 percent. Higher grade makes you go anaerobic, and you are not yet ready for it. Now the time/distance on your feet is much more important than how hard you are running.

P.S. - I have been able to play some hymns without memorizing them or looking at the keyboard while I play.
