Today was glorious weather. Why couldn't Saturday have been like this? Today was clear and mild (about 54 degrees), the mountains were a crisp white border against bright blue skies, and the lake was a glacial green. I've complained about the cold rainy, snowy weather, but today there was a glint of green on everything. So I guess what they say about April showers is true. There were tiny leaflet buds on trees, tender grass, and reeds starting to bud. Life, again made fresh. P.S. Since when do we have pelicans? I saw 4 floating on the lake. Not Osprey or Egret; Pelicans. White feathers and orange beaks (not grey like the ones I see in Baja). I really need a field guide/Audubon Society Guide to our region. I see so many birds and plants I'd like to know the names of. It was really something to see those huge white birds floating on the blue-green water. The run was so-so. My legs felt a little heavy (after Saturday) but not bad. I'm still so glad I had a great distraction to carry me those 17 miles this weekend--snow and all. I would have never done that on my own. I'm getting really inconsistant and undiciplined in both my speed and distances. It was a great check up.

Isn't it a gorgeous day today? There's so much beauty after the storm. I LOVE living in Utah. I'm glad you're recovering well from Saturday's 17 miler. Your fun persona and great company made the miles flew by even in windy snowy conditions. Have a great week!!! Hope to see you in future runs.

You know what is so funny- the weather isn't what I remember about Saturday. It is all of the great friends, oh yeah, and the whipping cream :)

Today is SO wonderful! I am glad that the bum/hip/back is acting alright today :) Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 70 :) YEah!!!

I think Utah is beautiful and I feel especially lucky to have such beautiful places to run. I sure hope there's more fun runs in the near future! Nothing will make you fast friends like running 2+ hours in the snow together, right? I'm so excited to hear about your 2009 Boston experience. I had so hoped to qualify at SGM, but I broke (tore) my hamstring/piriformis. It made me sad. So you have to come back and tell me all about it. I'll hitch a ride with Marion if she plans on doing that run with you guys again. I just want to see that place without all the snow and fog!

Luz- Saturday, we are running 11 on Porter Rockwell trail in Draper. The next week we are going to need 17, wanna do the JRP again? I bet we can talk these cutie pies into it:) Susanna will be in Boston, though :(

From Smooth on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 17:24:34 from 71.36.85.29

You should move to Lehi. I can show you all the great places to run here: up Suncrest for a half-mary, to A.F. or Alpine Canyon for long runs, around the Lehi bench for tempo runs, then of course the Jordan River Parkway with all the wild-life, birds and vista of the mountains.

Yes, let's get you BQ this year and we can run Boston 2010 together.

--Marion, yes. I want to go to Porter Rockwell Trail! Plan on it.

Smooth-- you make it sound so easy! I might try to BQ again when I'm 45 because I get 10 more minutes :) I'd have to do 3:50 which makes me nervous. My best is 3:59. P.S. no one ever made Lehi sound so amazing! I'm totally coming up to run those places with you--even if I can't move there quite yet..Can't wait to hear how it goes for you this year!

Okee- dokee :) I'll be by 6:20??? What do you think?

From Smooth on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 18:02:55 from 71.36.85.29

Luz,

You can totally shave 9 min. off. We have to make sure you're running healthy though. I shaved 13 min off from my Ogden07 time to BQ at SGM07 by running the Grand Slam as part of my training. You can do it. I'm excited to see you on Sat. I've never run Porter Rockwell before. It should be fun. How many are you doing?

From luzylew on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 18:09:28 from 208.187.197.42

Marion-- I'll plan on 6:20. Maybe if we're lucky it will rain instead of snow :)

Smooth--sure, I can take off 10 mintues as long as I never have to stop to use a port-a-potty and can run 8:40's for 26 miles, cake. I was totally up for it last year. I ran so hard and really made improvements to my time, but then that injury stopped me cold. I'm just getting back on my feet again. I did PT for 3 months. I'll do the UVM in June and take it slow. I hope it gives me a little confidence to just finish it. Thanks for the encouragement. Barring any further injury, I'll try antying.

From luzylew on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 18:10:28 from 208.187.197.42

Porter Rockwell-- I'll try to do 10-11, but will most likely stay with whoever I can keep up with so I don't get lost!

From Kelli on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 18:18:16 from 71.219.95.20

Sorry I missed meeting you on Saturday!!! But I was snuggled all warm in my bed. Thanks for the stretches you showed Rachel, she showed them to me this morning and I will try them and see if it helps!!!

From luzylew on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 18:22:52 from 208.187.197.42

I'm glad they help-- I hope she showed you the #4 I call it (crossing your foot over your knee while you're on your back and pulling them forward). I almost pulled my hamstring off the bone last year. At PT they showed me how lower back, hamstring, then hip is like a domino effect. Stretch, stretch, stretch and make sure to keep some core work going. I hope it helps. I look forward to meeting you too! I'll show you all the tricks they showed me.

From Marion on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 18:27:56 from 71.213.107.46

Kelli- are you going to come Sat? I can't remember. You really want the whipping cream that I am going to bring :)

Luz- I think you can BQ too. You learned a TON last year about your bum/hip/ham and you've got the speed. Now you have all of these cool new running friends :) Nothing holding you back now :)

From Kelli on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 18:31:35 from 71.219.95.20

I am trying to work that out, yes.

Glad to hear about everyone coming on Saturday! However, the next Saturday is SLC 1/2 and I know at least Kelli and I will be there. I feel cheated if I miss another JRP run/chat/party :) I know I need to do more like 19 this weekend, so I think I'll come early and do 6-7 early then finish off the 12 with the group! YEA, I'm excited...I missed the whipped cream last week, but I will have some this week, oh yes I will :)

Okay, Luzy now to you...I am so excited that you felt decent enough to get out this morning after we tricked you into 17 on Saturday!! You are one tough woman and WILL BQ - just stick with us crazy ladies and you'll get the motivation to do ANYTHING!! Trust me, I've only been around a few months and have already turned nuts :)
