I'm not sure if running on the treadmill counts as real running or not.  But I feel like my legs and lower back need a break.  They are not injured or in real pain, as much as fatigued.  I've been bouncing back fairly well from the long runs-- that is until this one on Saturday.  It did me in.  I took it easy on Monday, but had such a terrible run yesterday, I settled on the treadmill today hoping it will leave me feeling fresh.  Josse told me that it uses different muscles and changes your gait --which right now may be a good thing.  But I do like  forcing myself into/holding a specific pace.  I remembered today that for me, I always peak 2 months into training. I remembered how in Cross Country,  I  had to be careful that my level of fitness/training peaked around the same time as regionals/state.  One year, I was so excited for the season, I started training early, and peaked mid-season and ended with shin splints. But that was almost 25 years ago and I've forgotten about all that.  I probably shouldn't have tried to so hard this summer and should have focused on peaking in October.  I just took for granted that I'd get better, and better.  But hey, I did get a gold medal on Pioneer Day! I may not win anything again until, by process of elimination I take the 80-85 age division by storm.

You ROCK Luzy! I am sorry you run was bad yeasterday! :( My doc said the treadmill is good for you :) Hang in there :) Hey- how is the eating going?

I started in July cutting out refined sugar, flour, meat, processed/hydrogenated anything AND chocolate. I'd love to say how much better I feel, but I got sick and injured within a month of doing that hard core--not sure if it was co-incidence. Eating that way really great for the digestion and I lost about 5 pounds, but it left me feeling way more tired than usual and made for harder runs. I still have not fully developed a good balance with the protein (I'm trying amino acid suppliments and protein drinks, but I have incorporated some meat back into my diet). I think I'll stick to the no refined/processed/hydrogenenated flour/sugar and chocolate for more time. But I've decided that for me, I either need to do LESS running, or eat more protein.

Great on the weight, but bummer on the rest! I am a meat eater :) Cutting out the processed stuff is good :D I think chocolate is good for you! Is there anything you are craving? Aside from fries and a shake ;) whenever I am craving stuff I make sure to eat it. especially with fruit and meat. Sometimes a smidge more gradual approach may work better to help make sure you are getting all of the micro and macro nutrients you need. I dunno, nutritional changes are really hard. You are doing SO great. Hang in there.

I think is is WAY better to eat the meat than to take a supplement for meat, but that is just me.

You are a WONDERFUL inspiration! You have really helpd me to always look for the beauty of each run. You've made a big difference in my running life :)
