I got out earlier today which was nice to give it my day's first effort.  My kids have been doing Tennis lessons at 8:00 a.m. and I get really bent out of shape when their summer activities take a bite out of my beloved 6:00-8:30 zone. I look forward all school year to getting that time back for myself.  I need those two hours, or trust me, you don't want to be around me the rest of the day--or after 9:30 p.m. because that's when I turn into psycho-drama-exhausted-I-may-kill-you-if-I-don't-SLEEP-now-Mommy.  So really, there's just no good time to be around me, which explains a lot, now that I think about it.  Today, I felt  better, but who knows really, I ditched the Garmin two days ago in an effort to erase mental expectations.  I realized today how much muscle I've lost in the past two weeks.  Not just water, and weight, but muscle.  I am a pretty muscular person underneath all the layers, and being sick ate my muscular strength. I need to build that back up, it's just weird to go from running a happy-healthy Marathon to square one.  Happy July everyone!!  P.S. Crenshaw Melon is totally better than Cantelope in case you were wondering.

Hi! I just came across your blog in the "Recent Comments" section, and wanted to say hello as I think we are close in age and both have the goal of running Boston :). I'm 42 now, but I suspect by the time I qualify, I'll be 45 . . .lol . . .

Our current marathon times seem close. I ran 4:17 in the last one I ran, but hope to break 4:00 in the next one (Wineglass Marathon the same weekend as your St. George Marathon). Like, you I'm really big on being outside, and that's a lot of the reason I enjoy running so much. I'm fortunate to live on the outskirts of a beautiful park, and it's great running in there. Not sure if you've made it to Costa Rica yet, but you will LOVE it. We went a couple of years ago, and it is the perfect spot for someone who likes nature/outdoors.

At any rate, I hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds like you are recovering from an illness. That's the worst. I hate that feeling of starting over with training, but it will come back super fast.

Welcome to the blog! Yep, I'm 40 ish ish ish :) Going to Central America in November-- but working my way to the NE in a few weeks. I had a really bad hip injury that resulted from a previously unknown injury (torn hamstring). So this was my come-back marathon. I was so happy to run it! Then 2 days later I got the flu (THE flu). I hope you enjoy the blog!

Luz- Crenshaw is DELICIOUS! I hardly every find someone who knows what those are :) Yummy! Nice run. I am with you when the kids ruin my "alone-running-leave-me-alone" time. (could I fit another "alone" in there???)

Have a GREAT day :)

Luzy,

Can't say you're not consistent this week. At least you're out everyday pounding 4 miles. You'll get your muscles back in no time! You're a much nicer mommy than me. I used to make my kids ride their bikes to tennis lesson so I don't have to take them. :)

Catching up on your blog - you sound like me, only my clock goes off at 8pm, every parenting effort after that is risky. Might turn into the Hulk.
