So, I'm reading Born to Run. Great writing, fascinating subject (about the Tarahumara Indian ultra runners).  If you haven't read it yet, you really should.  This morning's run was tough.  These first days in the wintery weather always give me pause. It takes a bit to acclamate, particularly when it's been so warm for so long.  So anyway, the question of the day is 'can I really run 13.1 miles in a wedding dress?'

yeah, I think you can! Just wear running tights and a shirt underneath so if it gets too bad then you can simply dump it on the side of the road and be done with it!

I hear you on the cold...I stayed in today, couldn't take it! I hate to think of February with the nice ten degree weather, I'm seriously shaking thinking of it!!! Nice job being brave and getting out and getting it done anyway.

Sure, I am going to wear a leotard that was made for a 10 year old. I am going to have to do something to make it bigger though. I can barley get it on.

I know, but a leotard is made for dancing at least (and hey, you're the SIZE of a 10 year old almost...). Plus, ruffles! How can you resist! I'm just glad there's something silly we adults get to do on Halloween. I think it's the best idea I've heard of in a long time. Halloween and New Year's are always lacking in Utah. I'm just starting to worry about wearing a huge wedding dress and would feel better about it if it was a halloween 'fun run' 10K than a half marathon. It may take me 2 1/2 hours, but, it would make a great story/memory (as long as it doesn't rain).

I could help you alter it so it is more runable.

I've heard your really good at sewing quiltsbyjosse! And also altering badly shaped race shirts :) I may have to take you up on that. I'm going to first ask a neighbor friend who is a good sew-ER to help. I think I want to cut the seams under the arms, and take off the front half of the skirt, but haven't decided how much of the long train I'd like to keep for drama. I may not even hem the places I cut off, so I think my job my be reduced to using scizzors. But let me know if you've got an ugly veil hanging around.

That sounds SO FUN! The Hoover Dam Marathon and Half also encourage costumes. There's prize for best costume male and female. I am not very creative...plus it's probably too hot for any "extra" clothing. I think I might look for a pair of wings and some antenna and dressed up as a bumble bee.
