I ran easy in preparation for the Freedom Run tommorrow.  I am pleased that my easy stride has gone from 9:13 to 8:36 m/m.  You know, I've been using the trail since 1991.  It used to be dirt.  I was so excited when they started grading it for pavement back in 2000.  But the pavement brought a lot of people and bicycles.  I'm glad for the a.m. regulars with whom I have developed a sort of relationship-- the two old guys who walk their beagle, the 50-something shy lady who looks like my 7th grade gym teacher and who is out there EVERY day, the four lady walkers, and all the neighborhood runners.  Perhaps the river trail feels too much like part of my own back yard and so I have opinions about who should be there prior to 7:00 a.m. -- But I have to say how much I hate the bicyclers on our end of the trail--There is no path dedicated to them like on the East half of the trail and therefore I think they have no right to go tour-de-france on our end. I particularly resent the attitude of the retried couple in matching yellow neon jackets.  Just because you're retired, doesn't mean we owe you the whole road.  There, I said it.

You go, Luz! I predict a super race for you! What is your PR in this race? Whatever it is, you have a good chance of beating it tomorrow! Your running has been going great.

I think you need to come up with a plan to knock those yellow matching goons off their bike! It is so easy to be cocky on the computer in the saftey of your own house! Have a happy 4th!!!! Oh, are you talking about the Provo River Parkway?? Good luck on the Freedom Run!

Maria- Last year a 14 year old kid racing for the starting line tripped my running companion (she was so surprized she didn't even put out her hands as her chin hit the pavement). Dripping from her chin she wanted to run anyway (that a girl!). But we didn't even start the run for a full 5-8 minutes after the gun. As for this year, I ran a bit with Sasha this week, he said I could finish the 10K in 48-- I'm shooting for 52 minutes. Regardless, I'll beat my time last year!

I hear you about the bikers thinking they own the path. And I remeber when the path was dirt. Me and my sister use to bike on it back then. Are you doing the 5 or 10k? I am doing the 10 so maybe I'll see you.

Maybe I think that I own the whole road, or maybe it's just those annoying matching jackets. I'm sure I need to chill. I'm doing the 10K tommorrow and looking forward to trying my best. It's always exciting too see if your body and brain can agree to work together on a race day. We'll see! I expect o see you at the winner's circle at the end!

From luzylew on Thu, Jul 03, 2008 at 13:12:37

I mean to say-- YOU will be in the winner's circle! (Unless they give out super-duper mediocre awards at the end--'cause then-- I'd totally place!)
