I never mention it here, but because of something I Josse Said, I think I'll mention it.  Although all I ever write about is the running, the core strengthening and stretching I do is equally important. After every run, I do 300 sit ups (50 for each ab group, starting from the bottom up) and 80 push ups, then I hold an elbow plank for 1 minute.  I walked 3 miles on Sunday, and spent an hour on the stationary yesterday morning.  It's slow going with the hip.  But the internal torque, twist I learned while running has been an essential took to both speed and recovery.  I have to rant to day about how much I hate the lung association.  Everything I do with the car donation program, they do. I started the Kidney Kar donation program in 1991, they started one in 1994.  I use Bronco Mendenhall and Kyle Whittinghame, they use LaVell Edwards, I use a 1968 red VW bug, they use a 1966 red Mustang, I give away free prizes, they give away free prizes.  No one give kidney patients in Utah money for diaysis or a kidney transplant, or fund medical research-- but the Kidney Foundation--all by private donations. But Lung is funded by a huge anti-tobacco settlement and government funding.   Theyt spend irrepsonsible amounts of money on advertising.  In the meantime

, Kidney Foundation is all individual donations, almost completely reliant upon the car donation program-- we pride ourselves in not applying for Goverment funding. Just because I have no where else to rant publically I have to do it here.  The Kidney Kars donation program spends the least on advertising/overhead, gives the most $ to programs/patients/research and has the best program in Utah (The program I run is one of the top 3 in the country).  I recently did "Car Donation" segmenets for expert village: http://www.expertvillage.com/video/164945_donate-car-kidney-foundation.htm

http://www.expertvillage.com/video/164941_donate-car-utah.htm

So if you have a car to donate, please give it to the KIDNEY FOUNDATION -- www.towkars.org

Thank you. Now I feel better.

We've given four vehicles ( 3 cars and 1 van) to the Kidney Foundation over the last 10 years. I'm glad you pointed it out.

AWESOME abs workout. 300 sit ups!!! Your core must be beautiful.

I'm curious...is Lew your last name?

Thank you for that. I've been sad all week, they keep stealing my ad campaings! Your Kidney car donations go to a good place. YOu just made my day! ps I wish my core was beautiful to look at, unfortunately I do eat real food, which puts a nice layer over all those great muscle groups!

#1- thank you for posting that! I have this "classic" truck that my husband is holding on to for "someday." It is a blight on the side of my house!!! I think I just found the perfect place for the pile of crap!

#2- even though it is infuriating, they obviously can't come up with anything good on their own and must steal your FABULOUS ideas! I am sorry they are stealing your cars :( I will tell everyone to donate to you

#3- I loved to see you on the video! You are so beautiful! It is so fun to put a live action person to the inanimate picture.

Some years back one of our neighbors suddenly went into complete kidney failure. They eventually attributed it to some virus he must have had when he was young. Anyway after searching his family they found that his wife was the perfect match. We of course came up with as many jokes as possible to help with this tough situation. We came up with some good ones. I ended up making them a embroidery for their home it read, "One Heart, One Home, One Pair of Kidneys!"

Just call 1-800-TOW-KARS or it's easier online at towkars.org

Sometimes young men go into kidney failure, but 'grow' out of it. No one knows the cause, I'm interested how they focused in on a virus later in his life. YOu just never know. What a great thing his wife could donate. We know a lot of those stories, and I'm always touched with someone who would have died from kidney failure can live on because of the love and kidney of someone else! George Lopez (comedian) got his kidney from his wife Ann, and he always jokes when asked to make some kind of decision he replies -- "Ask Ann, she's the one who wears the kidneys in this family!"

HAVEN'T updated my blog in a long long time, but read yours and think the web site is great - colorful- right tothe point. BUT, there is not place for me to make a $$ donation. Seems to be front and center about cars (which I guess is the point) but where is the link for people who want to help, but can only give cash. You are doing a wonderful thing. Its not a competition- thank god for the lung people, god knows how many lungs have been destroyed by the tobacco industry, I would just focus on each case and stay positive so you dont lose sight of how wonderful your work is! Send a new link to donate cash. It is end of year...

You'll hear no complaint from me about another charity's mission. Every non-profit fills an imporant role in the community. It's just that since I started the Kidney Kars donation program in 1991 and lung started theirs in 1994-- If I use a local football hero as a spokesperson, they use a different football hero. If I use a 1968 red VW bug as a visual, they use a 1966 red mustang convertible....and so forth. Same media outlets, visuals, etc. My complaint is, that for an organization that has a nicly goverment funded, padded budget and 'sexy' charitable mission, I wish they'd come up with their own ad campaigns. I mean, no one talks about high blood pressure or polycistic kidney disease with the same passion as anti-smoking! Kidney Cars was a godsend to our organization. I agree, that the Kidney Foundation website is not set up to easily accept cash donations. I appreciate you pointing that out. But to date, the best way to help the Kidney Foundation is to donate an old car. I'm just being a baby about copy-cats on the playground because a really great friend who has been caring for her husband for 10 years while he had kidney disease, just lost her own kidney function and is now on the transplant waiting list. I love the poeple I serve, and feel protective of my efforts on their behalf. Thanks again for your comments and suggestions.
