I felt awesome during the race!  I could have gone faster but thought it would be better to stay with people who needed me.  We helped each other in that way.  However, after the race, I took off to finish my miles for the day and I was surprised at how difficult it quickly became.  I was really dragging by the end.

I thought I was more prepared. My biggest downfall was mental.  Aahh!  I think I can! I think I can! I was going for 3:40, so obviously I really fell off the wagon--again!  I was at 1:45 at the half way point (8 min.pace), but somewhere between mile 19 and 20 I forgot why I was running.  I only completely gave up once (I'm not sure for how long--3 minutes?).  I suppose that was better than my first marathon. I gave up many times and ended at 4:30!

The long and short of it is, I'm improving, but I have higher expectations so I've still got a lot to do.

12 seconds behind first place after I convinced her to run with me. (she wanted to run slower). But she was obviously the better runner--she had the staying power at the end.

I haven't run since the 5k on Sept 26th, so nothing strenuous.  But it did make me remember all the things that I love about running. I especially love sweating!  That's something I never used to do (apparently I never worked out hard enough!)

Just remembering that I used to run nearly every day! oops. It's been a while.  Took it at my partner's pace

It felt great to get out and run today. It was drizzling but not cold. In fact, it was the perfect temperature.   I left around 6:15 am, did 4 miles at 8:38 pace, average heart rate was 161--which seems high for that speed.  In fact, on mile #1 I ran 8:47 pace and my heart rate was at 145.  On mile #3, I ran exactly the same pace, but my heart rate was 167. Hmm.. .

Lucky Skunk!! You're finally logging your mileage! Yeah! Nice run today. Maybe mile 3 was a little more uphill than mile 1? That would explain the HR spike.

Okay, I'm lame for not running.  Argh! So hard to get motivated when I'm not training for anything. Morning just comes way too soon.

But that being said, I did do 1 hour of cardio work out and then ran a couple of miles pushing 2 kids in the stroller.  It felt GREAT!  I love running in the fall.

Good job getting out there and getting your heart rate up!

You can COUNT on running this weekend. :)

Okay, I intended to go farther, but I took my dogs. I was just happy to be outside and remembering how it feels to get up early.  Plus, with daylight savings, its bright out by 6:30am--which is really nice.

3.5 miles at 8:30 pace. I left at 7 am.  It was light and there was a crisp breeze. It was wonderful. I wish I could run in those circumstances every time. The trails were empty--I think everyone else is missing out.  Now I just need something to train for...
