AM: 6 miles on trails with pups in 14:19 avg pace. Avg elevation: 8,500, 967' gain/loss. Avg heart rate: 161, Max heart rate: 179.

We got about 6" of snow yesterday and last night. The run was nice, just enough snow to make the uphills tough, but the downhills fun. My calves and ankles are a bit tired this evening though, lots of ankle rolling and some post holing.

Your legs must be so strong the way you talk about running on the trails with ice and snow and pups and you do not suffer any major injuries. Amazing. :)

I don't know about that. I'd like to think they were super strong but I somehow really doubt it.. my super slow times indicate that I am a) not in great shape and b) take the technical sections pretty slowly :) I actually think I suffer less overuse injuries when I'm running a lot of trails because of the variations in foot placement and speed. I have been thinking about how the heck I managed to stay healthy when I was younger (never had any injuries). I've come to the conclusion that soccer must have kept me pretty strong- especially laterally. I definitely do not have that lateral strength anymore and I'm thinking that is why I tend to get overuse injuries (IT band stuff) when I do the higher mileages for weeks on end on the roads. That, and I probably have some oddities in my running form/foot placement. Who knows, I seem to have a good streak going and my knee/IT band is feeling okay. Fingers crossed I can keep it up! Although, I know I am slacking on my strength and stretching.. need to get back on that wagon as well.
