AM: 5 on trails with pups in 12:11 avg pace. Avg heart rate: 142, Max heart rate:167. Avg elevation: 8,500'; 800' gain/loss. Drizzled a bit at the start of our run, nice and chilly and saw a rainbow. Gluts and quads are super sore from the strength training at PT yesterday. I think I am actually walking a little funny they are so sore. Made it tough to run this morning, but I managed a slow steady pace. B was on leash and L was on and off depending on if he was staying near me or running up ahead and then not coming back when called. Such a stubborn boy. B kept lagging behind, so there was some stopping and correcting going on this morning. Will be nice when I can just run with them and not worry about them not coming back or pulling me off my feet. Someday.. maybe. Foam rolled and stretched afterwards.

Bayly finally got out today. It has been a long month for her. Ron was not able to run with her much while I was gone. All I did was look at her and say "Do you want to go?" and she went nuts. She also has a bit of a problem coming back when I call her. There are just so many sniffs. At least I can see her the whole way. I would get so nervous if she rounded a turn and I could not see what she was up to. Your little L pup must do pretty good even though he is young.

Yes, my pups both go crazy when I say 'Do you want to go?', it doesn't really matter if hike, walk, run, or for a car ride follows. Although B pup is still getting car sick, so she actually runs away when we start the car.

I know it has to be hard for them to come back when there are so many interesting things out there and probably 90% of their time is spent in the house. I am sure if I could see the pups on the trails, it would be easier for me to allow them to roam farther, but most of the trails are meandering and wooded. Mostly I worry that they will meet bikers or hikers, or even other dogs and that they may not be so friendly (the others, not so much L and B pup- although they may bark and jump up). I love the summers for the warm weather, but I think I actually enjoy running through the snow and ice in the winter more because the trails are nearly 100% mine :)
