A.M. went up to the ski area before work today. Love being the only people in line for the chairlifts (lasted for almost the entire time we were there). Only did about 5 green runs on telemark. Definitely can tell that my right quad/knee is not as strong this year as it has been in previous years.. right turns were just ugly. Overall, pretty pleased with the effort and both knees felt okay after about an hour.

Mid-A.M. worked from home today and interspersed working with stretching and strength exercises.

Mid-P.M. took the pup for our usual trail run loop, except I hiked instead of ran. Most of the snow was packed down from our snowshoe yesterday, but some sections were unbroken (past where we snowshoed yesterday). Unfortunately I only wore the mico-spikes- so I was post-holing a bit. The knee started to hurt on our way home.. might have overdone it a bit today. Lots of ice, ibuprofen, and stretching tonight.

I love to ski! We do it as much as we can when we are in CO. There are ski areas up here, but we are spoiled. There is nothing like Colorado skiing! My bro telemarks. I have never even thought about attempting it. Something about not having my heel stationary freaks me out.

Sounds like you are working hard to stay in shape and get your knee back to good health. Keep up the good work!

Yes, I love to ski as well. My true passion is actually backcountry skiing- but I'm not really good enough to take full advantage of the amazing terrain in CO. I took up telemark skiing because I joined a search and rescue team when I lived in New Mexico (Santa Fe area) and it was easier to get into the backcountry on tele skis. They also said I would be a 'pro' since I grew up x-country skiing in the flats of the upper midwest. Ha- not so much! I'm in my 7th season (more off than on) and I'd still consider myself a beginner. It's definitely a great work out though!

I'm trying to stay in shape.. Haven't been doing so well on the nutrition front however. I made chocolate chip cookies for the first time in years over the weekend.. so good, yet so bad!

Oh chocolate chip cookies are a HUGE weakness. When the kids were little I would bake a double batch at least twice a month! They are such a guilty pleasure.

My husband, Ron, daughter Kaylie and my mom went to Santa Fe last May. It was the first time we had been there. I love the southwest decor and food. We came back loaded down with terra cotta and talevera (sp?) flower pots. We loved it and would like to take the rest of the family some time.

Santa Fe is a beautiful place. I actually lived up in Los Alamos, which is only about 45 minutes away. I was working at Los Alamos National Lab for a few years. Which is also an interesting place-especially geologically, being located in the Jemez Mountains and just outside the Valles Caldera. I really enjoyed my time in New Mexico and being so close to Santa Fe. Amazing food, people, culture, art, and geology! It may sound cliche, but I do believe it really is the land of enchantment.
