Seth and I graduated from BYU April 2007. Our beautiful son Simeon was born that May. I started running again in June with the encouragement of Seth and Lybi. Seth, Lybi, Laura, and their mom are the ones who really keep me running :P

I was a bum today and didn't go running. After the crazy and wild family reunion, the elliptical machine is mysteriously broken. So now if I want to go running I have to go outside. It's not always easy to find someone to take care of the baby during a time when its cool enough outside to run. But that's not really my excuse today. My real excuse is just that I was too tired to go running today. The baby had a grumpy day and didn't really go down for a long nap. That means no nap for me either. So I just said I don't want to go running. Seth and I went for a nice walk in the park though.

I really appreciate Sarah's comment though. I'm always glad to know that there is still hope for me to lose weight. Seth says that us women like to just get around and justify our lack of weight loss, but really it's nice to know that I haven't reached the point of no return yet :)

Tomorrow the family reunion will be over so hopefully things will be calm enough again that Seth's mom can take the baby while we go running.

I appreciate the comment from Brent. I try to be active every day, even if it's just going for a walk outside with my husband.

Today Seth and I ran outside again. It had just rained so it was nice and cool and the ditch bank wasn't muddy but the dirt wasn't so loose, so it was easier to run. Since I hadn't run for two days I thought today would be a hard day, but it wasn't. In fact, today was much easier than Saturday. We enjoyed our run together and have decided that we want to keep running together as much as we can. After we move into our house, we won't live by the ditch bank anymore but we might still drive down to run as many nights a week as we can.

We have a non-electric tredmill--makes running hard but is good for walking. It's actually a fairly difficult workout. I might start walking on it in the mornings and running with Seth at night. That way if Seth ever can't run with me I will still get a workout, and when we do run together I will be getting double workouts.

I walked this morning on our treadmill for 8 minutes. Then this evening Seth and I ran on the ditchbank again. The weather has been great. It's been cloudy and close to raining so it has been very cool. I love running with Seth. It makes the time go faster and it is so fun.

I have a bad knee and it was hurting a little bit about halfway through our run. But it went away when I kept running. My cross-country coach in high school used to say that sometimes when you hurt the best thing you can do is just push yourself a little bit harder and you will feel better. Obviously that is not always true. But it's nice when it actually works. :)

Oops. I didn't run again today. Seth and I left at 8:00 this morning to drive to my parents house. Then when we got there my dad said Let's go fishing. So at 4:00 we went fishing and didn't get back home until 9:30. Then I showered, fed the baby, and ate dinner. Now I'm way too tired to run. Plus my parents live in the mountains so running after dark isn't the greatest idea.

I love running in the mountains! It is so beautiful and the weather is so perfect. The only problem is the lack of oxygen! Actually I am proud of us. My parents live at 10,000 feet. That's a lot higher than where we live in New Mexico. Last year when we came up to visit, Seth and I went running. We ran for about five minutes and we were dieing. It really bothered my asthma and I had a hard time breathing. I lost my voice afterwards and coughed most of the day. In short it was pretty sad. With that in mind we were pretty wary about running up here again this summer. Since we usually to a 20 minute run we decided to power walk for 5 minutes, run for 10, then end with another 5 minute power walk. So we did our 5 minute walk. Then we ran. After 10 minutes we felt good so we ran for the next 5. We ran for 15 minutes at 10,000 feet! Wow! And we still felt good afterwards. So tomorrow we are planning to start with the 5 minute walk again but then run for 20 minutes. We are pretty proud of ourselves.

By the way. We did not get eaten by a bear. That is a pretty great accomplishment right there :P
