My dad came out to run the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in Central Park. We had a goal of under 50 minutes...and it was great weather for it. But we didn't make it because his knee hurt and the course was packed with over 8,000 runners! This is too many runners for a Central Park race... Starting in wave F of L really slowed us down (I think we would have been fine in B, my normal wave). First mile was over 9:00. We just couldn't get around people! We ran a massive negative split and passed probably hundreds of other runners. I've never passed so many people in a race. My dad has been working so hard to get fit. I am really impressed with his progress, even if we didn't get to run sub 50.
