Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

OK....I'm not the kind of girl to sit around and watch everyone else have all the fun!  I have been a "silent lurker", (as Tom put it), of the fast running blog since meeting many of you fine people in St. George last week!  I am planning on running the St. George 1/2 in January.  Moab actually sounds like a great idea also!

My training right now is with a friend who has never ran until she started with me in August.  We are taking it pretty easy and slow.  My first half was in Jan. 2000 with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes. (When I crossed the finish line the guy who gave me my time ticket told me, "All you need to do is cut 4 minutes off of each mile and you can be a contender!")  Wasn't he a funny guy?!   My second half was in Jan. 2006 with a time of 2 hours and 10 minutes.  I think this one will be much slower with my training partner, but at least I am running again.  Maybe I can try to pick up the pace for Moab.

It really was fun to meet many of you in St. George!  I hadn't really paid much attention to the blogging that Tom was in to until I saw how nice you all are!   It was so fun to sit at the finish line and see all you awesome runners come in so fast!

I see the peer pressure had the desired effect! Let me be the first to welcome you officially to "the blog".

From Lybi on Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 00:44:29

Yea Kim!!! I'm so excited that you decided to give us a try. The people on this blog ARE very exceptional, and everybody is improving--at their own level. So it's really fun and encouraging. Hopefully I will see you in Moab!

PS Sounds like that guy at the end of your race was a jerk! I probably would've puked on him...accidentally, of course.

Welcome! I always like to see some Spanish Fork people get on the blog. Good luck with your goals. We might have to start a spouse blog if all this post St. George excitement keeps up!

Welcome to the blog!

Lybi, you always crack me up.

Welcome to the blog Kim! I love the blog because it motivates me to not skip a day or cut a work out in half, the people are so supportive, and you get to learn so much from experienced runners. I hope you get addicted like the rest of us!

Welcome to the blog!

Welcome to the blog, Kim!

Does this mean there won't be so much talk of vampire books on Tom's blog now? Just kidding. My wife and daughters (all of whom want to marry Edward) haven't let me read the third book yet, but based on the on the other two I think Bella is nuts for not choosing the werewolf Jacob over the vampire Edward. Edward's so cold and hard. Sorry...this is a running blog, not book club.

I'm just glad neither of them are in my age group, because they are FAST!!!

I wish you didn't have a conflict with the Wasatch Back Relay next year. You would be in a great position to pull together a team from the "2 Slow 2 Win 2 Dumb 2 Quit" wives and the women of the blog.

Good luck with your running. You're living with a great exemplar.

From Terry on Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 16:56:26

Kim, isn't is kind of scary to have so many people watching you.

Good luck on injury free running.

BWT your husband is kind of a running nut and he's getting pretty fast too.

From Kerry on Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 19:23:45

Welcome, Kim! I think you'll enjoy all the characters that call this part of the blogisphere home. Sometimes you feel like a slacker when you see how hard others are working, but other times you're reminded to enjoy life, enjoy running and enjoy the beautiful world around us.

From Kim on Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 21:52:18

Thanks everyone! It is kind of scary to have so many people watching. But I figure that will motivate me when I need a little extra motivation.

Paul,

That is hilarious that you know so much about the vampires and the werewolfs! I have to agree with you, (all the girls will probably be against me on this one), but I think I would have to choose Jacob also.

From Mik'L on Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 23:13:22

Wow, that's tough to make a choice between Edward and Jacob but I think I gotta go with Edward. I mean...he's Edward! Man, I only read those books a month ago but I think I gotta do a second reading! (I think it's funny that some of the guys have read these books, but only because Clyde NEVER would. Funny but awesome!)

From Michelle on Sat, Oct 13, 2007 at 23:58:05

The ladies might actually have a chance to out number the guys on this blog! Sounds like we might get to meet you in Moab that would be great!
