Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

This morning Tom had to get in a longer, quicker run and the gal who is starting to run with me once in a while is out of town. So I decided that since I would be running alone anyway, I might as well get an extra hour of sleep and go out a bit later. I thought maybe I could talk Jansen into joining me, but that was a no go. He was enjoying his teenage slumber.

My Garmin's battery died in the first mile, so I made sure to stick with my 6.1 loop so I at least know the distance. As far as pace, I probably went a bit faster than I was suppose to. But when I am alone, I hate to mope around.

Three fun observations of the day....Two of the huge windmills at the mouth of Sp. Fork canyon were up and running today! Kind of cool to see them in motion. I don't know if they are in full swing or just testing them at the moment. One thing for sure, there WAS wind for them and for me. Another thing I enjoyed was the GREEN mountains! We usually see white, snow covered mountains, brown, dried up mountains or black, burned up mountains in these parts! It's so refreshing to see green! And finally, it was fun to pass a farmer and his son out cutting the hay with an old fashioned sickle (sp?). Their clothing and tools were just as if they were thrown here from 100 years ago!

Sounds like a fun morning run (except for maybe the wind). It's really nice to see everything so green. I usually try to watch for things that I can include in the blog, but some days (like today) I just get lost in my thoughts and hardly notice where I am or what I'm doing :)

Getting lost in your thoughts is a good thing too! I have had times where I really do not remember a few blocks of a run at all! I guess that's better than when we do that while we are driving.

Sounds like you had a great run Kim. Good job getting it done in the wind alone.

It is about as green as it gets around these parts right now, BTW there is still plenty of snow on our mountains but at least below the snowline it's nice and green not brown.

I didn't see the windmills in action during my run, hope they'll be crankin tomorrow as well.

So why was the farmer and son doing the sickle thing? Maybe with gas prices it's cheaper to do it that way than fire up the tracktor?

From Kim on Fri, Jun 06, 2008 at 12:02:30

I'm not sure on the sickle farmer, but it looked like they knew how to do it well. It was that little field right at the bottom of the hill we do the striders on. Maybe we could all learn something from people like them. Also, I noticed Clyde is selling his car for a Mt. Bike. When the oil companies see us all doing things like that, the prices will have to fall!

What a nice run! You are a great observer during your runs, I hardly pay attention at all.

Your blog is very fun to read, it was a good reminder to enjoy the beautiful scenery we have in Utah.
