My wife Laureen got me into running. She went into the St. George Marathon Ten Year Club last year and I should go in this year. I have two daughters (15 and 21).

My daughter remembered a German assignment that she needed to turn into today and she needed some help with it, so I only had time for a short run. Normally, I might have skipped it, but I really wanted to try to get in the habit of running six days a week. Everything felt good. No lingering soreness or pain.

Kerry - I've taken a look at your recent training. I think you are ready for "the day does not end until I've run 5 miles" Monday through Saturday. Run slow if you have to, or if you don't most of the time, but get in the distance.

I was a little worried about violating the 10 percent rule (not building up total mileage by more than 10 percent a week), but I've been feeling good. I'm planning on doing 5 Tues, 6 Wed, 4 Thu, 4 Fri and 14-15 on Saturday (for a total of 35 or 36 for the week. Do you think that's too big an increase?

I think the 10% rule makes sense when you are going from 90 to 100, but not when you are going from 20 to 35 especially if you have done 35 in a recent past. I would cut your Saturday run to 12, but make it faster, and make the 4 milers 5 milers instead. Otheriwse, I think your plan is great.
