I am officially in between storm chasing and my Greece trip, and I figured running a race between would be a great work out and motivator to keep at it til I get back to Tallahassee. I am in Mississippi, and I am "undefeated" in my races here in Jackson so that adds a little excitement as well.

Long story short, the course ran a little long on my Garmin (3.22) and everyone I asked had at least 3.16. So that is a good 15-20 seconds. I normally wouldn't care, but I really want a new PR and I am having trouble getting it because all the courses are a little off, making it tough. But it will happen one day. I still don't know if I count the sub-19 from a little while back. I think I will if I never do it again :)

There was a hill named "heartbreak hill" on the course and it made me never want to run Boston, because it hurt like heck and I can only imagine how it would feel during a marathon. Guess I'll find out in less than a year.

One boy finished the one mile fun run on crutches because he has a debilitating disease. Jason and I both cried, it was really inspirational. I need to watch him run before every race.

All in all, this was a good workout and I got a cool piece of local pottery.

I did, however, pull my calf a little walking around after the race. I was still able to get my cool down in and my other calf actually caused the most pain. When I stopped my cool down I felt my legs tighten up instantly (and I was only doing like 9:20 pace). The one I tweeked is hurting when I walk right now. It's higher up, towards the inside almost to my knee. This is different than where they normally hurt. So I need to keep stretching today, and I can't wait for my "stick" to get here. This puts a lot of pressure on you ratteltrap, I am looking for a little miracle!

Congrats on another great race!

Wow Kelsey. You rule the southeast! What's this pressure you're talking about on Rattletrap? Do you guys have a bet going on like Lucia and Eric Day?

From Adam RW on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 15:34:44 from 155.101.241.248

Great race. Very consistent. Same time as on April 11, but I'm assuming very different courses.

From kelsey on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 16:02:39 from 199.193.13.250

Thanks Michelle!

Burt, what bet do they have? Interesting. We don't have a bet going though... Rattletrap advised me getting "the stick" to see if it helps with my calf pain.

Oh wow, Adam, I didn't even realize it was the same time. And both races were after having lesser mileage due to life getting in the way. Weird!

From Kelli on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 16:14:28 from 71.219.85.34

Shoot, I hope the pain goes away quick.

You did GREAT and you will beat that darn sub 19 very soon. YOU WILL!!!!!

From Adam RW on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 16:21:07 from 155.101.241.248

Kelsey, It is so funny that you put it that way. How true and how too often does that happen... Nice race though and that barrier will fall!

From Snoqualmie on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 17:51:40 from 67.171.56.164

Beautiful! Congratulations on 1st. Sorry to hear about the calf muscle. You will LOVE the Stick. :)

From Burt on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 18:50:16 from 98.167.151.26

Ah, I see. So if the stick doesn't work, blame it on Rattletrap. He's a big boy, he can take it.

Eric as you know, is from Mexico and Rocket from Argentina. They're both going to do 10k's and whoever has the slowest time has to wear the flag of the other country in their next race. Something like that. It keeps evolving. There's been talk about head bands and skirts, too.

Nice race. Congratulations!

WOW! You are just plain AMAZING!!! I am so impressed by your racing :) Now I want to be you. You are just ruling the Southeast with those speedy legs of yours!!!!!

From rattletrap on Sun, May 24, 2009 at 00:28:10 from 75.216.252.163

Congratulations on your race! Don't worry, you will love your stick :)

From montelepsy on Sun, May 24, 2009 at 16:45:14 from 155.85.58.253

I think your problem was chasing storms in a car. You'd definitely catch some on foot, Miss Crazyfast.

From Eric Day on Mon, May 25, 2009 at 12:16:23 from 200.52.200.64

Yes, you are probably faster on foot!

Super time Kelsey, I'm sure that PR WILL fall, maybe you just need some more ice cream ... =)

From Nevels on Tue, May 26, 2009 at 13:14:23 from 131.204.15.93

Congrats on another win, and fret not; you'll destroy those PR's soon (especially if you run enough races in Jackson - they've got some pretty flat courses around)

From Jed on Thu, Jun 04, 2009 at 17:45:59 from 207.173.78.2

Nice job on the race, Kelsey! You're putting together a very solid season and working over the competition out there. As a fellow stick user, I don't know if you'll actually love the device (unless you enjoy good old-fashioned pain more than I do, which is highly probable), but you will love the results.
