Long run at Bradleys to the Georgia border. 51:30 out (with an upset stomach), 46:56 back (I had to stop my watch to take care of business in the woods. Super super gross). Quick pace with negative splits; nice run besides the bathroom mishap.

I have had a plague of upset stomachs lately during my runs. The last two runs I had what I would consider emergencies. If anyone has any pointers I'd love to hear them.

this happens to me when i put sugar into an empty stomach --- gels, sports drinks, etc. i have had some horrible race experiences because of of this, so i no longer take gels and i will only drink very small amounts of sports drinks, but only if i can dilute it with water.

if that isn't the issue, it may be because you are running too soon after you eat. if your stomach is still trying to digest and you start running, the blood flows to the legs and away from the intestines, causing cramping and other fun stuff. gravity and the pounding movements of running don't help with this.

sorry, one more thought - could be dehydration???

also, great run! nice negative split for the second half.

My pointer would be stay close to a bathroom :-).

Thanks for your input, Allie. I was running in the morning and didn't eat anything before. I am thinking I need to try drinking more water throughout the day to see if that helps. I sure hope so, because this is getting old!
