Definitely not feeling great yet. When out to do four, but I ran 3, walked .5 then ran the remaining .5. Knees are hurting and my quads felt like bricks.

It makes me wonder how often I really want to run marathons, because they really take a lot out of you. And I think my favorite part of the entire process this time were the shorter races I ran while training for it. And they didn't leave my body feeling so beat up.

A marathon can do that to you, but I've always found that the longer distances felt more rewarding at the end. Don't get me wrong, I, too, love doing 5k's and 10k's in preparation for the longer races, but I also enjoy having that larger goal out in the distance to shoot for.

Now if you're really feeling eccentric, you know that the soreness from ultras usually subsides more quickly than the soreness from marathons, so, clearly, the only logical thing to do is...

Wow, and there is Nevels trying to convince another person to run more!!! Crazy guy!

I hope the soreness works out soon for you, I feel your pain!!! Have you tried Aleve (dumb question, I know, but that stuff is great!)

I HATE short races, I will take the long with all of the soreness! I think you need to pick what makes you happy and go with it!

Haha, Nevels is always recruiting. I felt a lot better today, and actually I haven't tried Aleve in a while, I may go pick some up.

I love half marathons. I think 13.1 is a fun distance. And you recover from them so quickly you can run a fast one every other week. But you guys are right, a marathon feels more rewarding.

Halfs are my favorite, too!
