A few months ago I read on someone's blog that they like to try to get a little walking in after each run (if it is you let me know!). Ever since then I have successfully walked about half a mile after every single run. I'm proud that I've kept up with it and it's actually become somewhat enjoyable.  On an out and back I always make sure to go out further to get my walk in.  Today on my post-run walk some guy yelled out the window and told me he loved me. What a nice thing to say... I think.

Whereas I don't think it was me that mentioned walking, I have been trying to heed the advice of a much more accomplished ultrarunner than myself by incorporating a little uphill walking after long runs. According to Greg Gearhart (a great guy, venerable ultrarunner, and former sub-2:30 marathoner out of Clinton, MS), a good way to put the finishing touches on looooooong-distance training is to finish up a long run and then hop on a treadmill at full incline for 15 minutes or so of walking to simulate walking up hills late in a race.

maybe a little off-topic, but i thought i'd share anyway...

Probably one of those guys offering you a dollar to do pull-ups in your skirt.

Did you break your promise to Jason and start doing pullups with a skirt on earlier today? That would probably explain Mr Driveby Lovestricken.

Haha, like I said, I'm not allowed to do that. And that is one rule I don't need to break.

That's interesting about the uphill walking. I wonder if my no-hill walking has any positive effects. Since I don't stretch I figure it couldn't hurt.
