Ran with Michael. Felt a little faster than I planned but I'll be fine. Maybe it was just because I didn't get very much sleep last night. My turtle is really sick, I took him to the vet last night at 5:30 and 8:30, then again at 7:30 this morning. I slept on the couch so I could keep a better eye on him, and kept waking up and walking over to him to make sure he is alive. He is looking a lot better as of right now. I really hope he makes it, he's the coolest guy ever and only 4 months old. It's been a rough couple of days.

How can you tell your turtle is sick? Poor guy.

Great run, tired or not!

Ditto, how do you tell a turtle is sick? That is so exciting that your parents are coming and that you dad will be running half with you.

When is race day?

His eyes were swollen shut :( They are getting better though. It's the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. I thought it was an infection but I read some stuff online about defective reptile UVB lights and I had just put a new light bulb in his cage and it was on the list as causing problems. So I think it gave him what they call photo-kerato-conjunctivitis. If that's true he should be much better by tomorrow with no permanent damage. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's nothing more than that. Poor little man.

My race is two weeks from yesterday! I'm getting excited, and I am so glad my dad will be there to pace me the first half!

Poor little turle!

2 weeks!! Yeah! You will do great.

I have been trying to add you on to my favorite blogs but I type your name in and then someone else by the name blog name kstad shows up on my favorites. Do you know anything about that?

How do you know he's a man?

I'm touched that you slept on the couch to watch over your turtle. What dedication!

My blog address is kelseystraining.fastrunningblog.com since just kelsey was already used. that may help! :)

And I am not sure if he is a guy. You can't really tell until they are older, males have longer tails and toe nails. So I hear.

And as an update after long hours of turtle research: It turns out the UV lamp in the new tank I got him may have been leaking UVC and caused his eyes to swell and his lethargy. I am sending the bulb away to researchers in England who are going to test it. Then they can report it to the company and get it off the shelves. Crazy! If this is the actual cause by tomorrow morning he should be around 90% healthy :) If not, I will probably need to go to the vet again.

Yea! I did it! I don't know why that was so hard for me to figure out.
