I just realized FSU plays BYI in football in September. I would totally go if I didn't have a grand prix race that weekend. Darn!

Headed for a little double vacay really early tomorrow morning (getting up at 2:30am) with Jason's family in Myrtle Beach and then my family in Port Charlotte.  I will be missing out on intervals with the track club, and with my mile grand prix race coming up I knew I needed the speed work. I had a crazy day, followed by going to the local shelter with my church group to cook dinner for the approximately 300 guests they have for dinner each night. We were finished around 8:30 and I went straight to the track, trying to get home as early as possible to get some sleep and trying to avoid a big storm that was coming. I warm up about a mile and begin my workout, which I decided would be as many 400s as I can stay motivated for, preferably 12 but thinking it will end up being like 5.

All of that rushing had me rush my first interval as well, running a 79. A little too fast, but that's okay. I jogged an easy lap around and was about to start my second 400 and long story short a guy on the track decided to race me to amuse himself and his friends. He took off when I did, way too fast, and I just let him go because I didn't realize we were racing. After the first 200 I realized what was going on and caught up to him, finishing a second or two behind him. I am sure that wasn't quite the victory margin he wanted. During my easy lap the sky opened and it started pouring, so they guys left. That left me and two other speedy girls on the track. I loved it! I felt so hard core running in the rain and loved that two other girls who seemed to be doing some type of interval workouts of their own were the only people to work through it. At times the rain was an inch or two deep on the track. I continued to do 400 on, one lap off (a little more than 400 because I had to run in lane 4).

Times:

79, 76, 89, 89, 91, 89, 87, 86, 89, 85, 87, 85

I can't believe I finished an entire speed workout by myself. I am super proud, and my times weren't bad considering the weather. They were actually better than my last 400s with the track club. I think my body was thankful that it wasn't 1000 degrees.
