My left leg is my problem child. It is the first to complain and generally I hear nothing from the right leg. As a result I was completely surprised to feel the calf muscles on my right leg tighten up in the first mile of today's run. Another one of those times when the muscles are so tight I can barely lift my toe from the street surface. After resting and slowly stretching things out I was able to finish the workout without incident.

3.07 mi in 37:11 at 12:07/mi avg burning 336 calories.

Today's splits ---
1.00 mi in 12:10 156 bpm max HR
1.00 mi in 12:31 158 bpm max HR
1.00 mi in 11:52 183 bpm max HR
0.07 mi in 00:37 (9:19/mi pace) 186 bpm max HR

During the last 0.25+ mi I pushed the pace below 10:00/mi which shot my heart rate to 186 bpm as I finished. Felt good to stretch out the stride. In future workouts I need to start working some faster intervals into the mix.

Can I just tell you that Yoga is a runner's best friend?!?

Good job today.

Hey, I noticed you want to participate in a Ragnar Relay. Which one? I have done the one in Utah and the one in Arizona. The Utah one is crowded and hard. The Arizona one was much easier (still hard, though) and you rarely saw anyone. I think I saw maybe 7 people on my first leg, 3-4 on my midnight leg (scary) and then I started with a guy on my last leg, but lost him on a hill and never saw another person. They have one in California that goes down the coast. I want to do that one next!

Yoga! Yeah, I know about that, I eat it in my smoothie.

I have been eyeing the relay in Texas. It is a bit closer to my area.

They are a ton of fun (if you have the right people with you).

Now, seriously here, Yoga (as well as that stuff you eat in your smoothie) is very good for you! And speaking of smoothies, have you ever put spinach in yours??? SO GOOD for you, and you can not even taste it. It will make you strong like Popeye!

I have not tried spinach in a smoothie nor am I inclined to do so. A smoothie is for fruit. Salads are for spinach.

I promise, if you want to be strong like Popeye, you should do it! It really has no taste and if you put enough blackberries in your smoothie you can not see it, either!
