Met up with Kim, Jane and Kerri at Kerri's house (1.14miles easy uphill mile  9:07).  Plan was 10 or whatever I felt like  since Kim and Jane had run 4 already (they were running the 20 I ran yesterday, today as planned)  before meeting up at Kerri's.  I  felt unusually great actually.  We ran the Alpine loop stopped at the Fountain of Youth (the ever-flowing drinking fountain) got chased and barked at by a large chocolate lab until Kim growled at him, and ran until past Highland Elementary at the stop sign south of it.  Kim and Jane headed west towards Highland and Kerri and I headed East thru Highland City Center and thru Lone Peak park and up by Lone Peak High School home.  Ran back home one mile after picking up my layers at Kerri's to get in 16.1 miles total.  Still feel great.  Could actually run longer.  I was parched at the end however.  So Kerri got me a glass of water before taking off on my last mile   :   D.   AP for 16.1 miles =  8:08.    Merry Christmas to all!!!

Look at your average pace. CRAZY fast for an easy winter run. And glad to hear you are still feeling good!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Thanks Kelli. I am feeling very good, oddly. I love winter running. I felt I could go on for at least another four. I think its my iron therapy. Kind of regretting I didn't run 26.2 yesterday, just 'cause.

Just cause, huh???

What is your iron therapy? I was doing some research about certain recurring issues I have and iron deficiency kept cropping up. SO, I have self diagnosed that as my problem, (but am going to go see a doctor in the New Year to see).

From JulieC on Sat, Dec 25, 2010 at 01:09:31 from 168.103.185.163

well since I was at 23.2 miles it seemed the only "sane" running thing to do : D. So the ailments you mentioned would you be meaning your stomach one? You may very well be iron deficient since you are probably not absorbing iron with a stomach problem. I ran my iron level to the ground as iron deficiency is also linked to running lots of miles due to "heel strike hemolysis" and recurrent injury (two things against me this past summer). I was severely unmotivated and never healed after Squaw Peak until I started taking iron after SGM. A miracle. Hope you get some sleep.

My iron therapy was IV. My ferritin level was extremely low (5), performance drops when it is below 25, and would be very difficult to raise with out it IV. I got four doses of 200mg Iron Sucrose.

Way to rack up some serious mileage iron woman! I am so glad you have found a solution and can get back to running in top form!

No, the stomach thing has finally passed (although I can not eat ANYTHING within 4 hours of exercising, but that is pretty normal, right?) I was talking about extreme fatigue, not being able to sleep even when I am exhausted, being freezing all of the time....

From JulieC on Sat, Dec 25, 2010 at 14:22:03 from 168.103.185.163

I was tired all the time and could not sleep. So hopefully you will be cured soon. There is a good liquid iron made in germany sold at Good Earth. I felt better after 10 days on it before my Dr. ordered the IV form. It is called Floradix, I get the one withOUT yeast as I am allergic to yeast in that form. Hope you are doing well today, the merriest day of the year :D.
