I love it when you get and email titles "Congratulations (from ST George Marathon)" and think just maybe, maybe they forgot my name on the list and are writing to tell me. Then I open the email and it says "we regret to inform you that you didn't make it in but then lists charities to try etc... WHATEVER!!  I don't know why but I feel less spunk now that I am NOT in the SGM.  UVM was all for training for SGM and to see where my fitness level was.  I hope I can regain my mental focus.  I still believe I can run a 3:10 there.  I am just not sure how into it I am without out my favorite fall marathon.  Blah, blah.  BLAH!!  I will  get over it I am sure I will.  But it is VERY odd that MANY people I know did NOT get in.  It was like the chances of getting in were more like 25% then 75%.  I thought there were 7500 entries with 10,000 applications?  But maybe there were a lot of THREE TIMES a charm and 10 year clubbers.  So far no one in my neighborhood got in-- Jane, Kim, Kerri, Adrienne, Taunya and myself.  Also Josse and my sister and Michelle and her sister.  Weird Science.  Anyway today ran 4 miles to the PG rec. Then two on the TM then right into 5 x 600s (.38 miles) at 1 % with 90 sec in between at 8:49 pace.  FELT VERY NICE.   First one 6:15.  Second one 6:15.  Too easy so 6:11.  Then 6:11.  Then AP for last one 5:58 probably but I got down to 5:49 for a good portion.  Brief cooldown on the TM then ran home to get 13 even.  AP for 5 on the mill = 7:22.  AP for 8 outside nice and easy (last mile 7:22 however)= 8:13.

Plus all of the Washington County residents are included in that 7500 number, and a few hundred 'Runner Series' entrants. I figure its about a 50/50 chance thru the lottery.

I got in...sorry! but that is one person you know! My husband's work makes me try to get in on my own before they give me a spot. So, in 4 years, I have gotten in 2 time and Not gotten in 2 times. 50/50. BUT I hate that I am taking a spot that could have gone to someone else....I wish they would just do their thing. They have 20 spots this year....but you have to either be a UHP officers or the spouse of one. Bummer for you, I am sad you will not be there smiling at me at the end!

Nice run today!!!!!

What a cruel title to the e-mail! Julie I seriously think you can break the big 3 at UVM! You can! Your training runs are over the top! I sooo wish you were going to be at Saint George! :(

they wrote a NEW email today APOLOGIZING for the confusion. I am sure I wasn't the only hopeful one. Too funny : D. If I seriously feel like banditing a SUB THREE HOUR hopeful race I will be there APRIL. I just don't want to have THAT effort NOT recognized in the books. I AM NOT SURE HOW TO THINK ABOUT UVM. If I feel like I did last Saturday I SERIOUSLY think I can do it. Basically because I think I could have come WICKED close even that day. I definitely think I could have run a 7:18 AP for the last six miles like Sariah did (if I had some GUs with me) and that would have been VERY close to 3 hrs. RIGHT on in fact. Sariah came in at 3:00:50 or so seconds. AND THAT COURSE IS MY OLD RUNNING GROUNDS, I KNOW IT VERY WELL. So I am hopeful but that was NOT my plan and I did NOT want this pressure for myself in JUST 4 1/2 weeks. I wanted it in St. George.
