Better than expected, details later
eating paleo I was nervous about having enough energy to finish a half, I didn't have any time goals but I really wanted to be under 1:35. I have been feeling better and figuring out what works for me eating wise. I had a medium sweet potato and a bowl of sliced banana, hemp milk, broken up cashew cookie Lara bar, and chia seeds with a little drizzle of honey (2 1/2 hours before). Right before the race I had a direct fuel bite and a swallow of 5 hour energy. I only had water durning the race and felt no crash durning the race. This was amazing. My goal for the race is to push and keep my HR in the 150's and just hope I could hold on for 13 miles.
I only warmed up about a half mile, and it was colder than I thought it was but still stripped down to my singlet with arm warmers and knee length capris. I was chilly but felt fine durning the race. I really expected to crash and burn starting out at the pace I did, but I was able to catch a group of girls and stick right behind them. This helped me a ton and was able to pass one and not fall apart for her to pass me back:) I love when you have a good race.
The course I a loop of sorts with a few rollers but mostly flat. A net elevation gain of 85ft. Splits from garmin (mine was a little off).
1- 6:59 down hill in this mile that we would have to come back up at the end. Was glad I over heard some guys say we have to run back up this at the end so I was mentally prepared.
