Woke up at 4:50 am EDT.  Left for airport at 5:22 am, reached gate at 5:50 am- living near a small airport has definite benefits in terms of time savings.  Saw my family for the first time in 5 weeks- very nice.  No run, except running home from Cody's house.  Spent tons of time packing enough stuff to occupy a small country.  Good to go tomorrow.  Results will be posted live for each aid station on the Bear100 website.

Good Luck! May the weather work in your favor, since you've already taken care of everything else...

Good luck, Jon. Looking forward to your report.

Tied for sixth at aid station #3

From jtshad on Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 18:19:48 from 69.20.183.178

Good luck!

From Paul on Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 18:36:44 from 65.103.252.214

Jon looked great at the Leatham Aid station. Unnaturally loose and cheerful, actually. No clear front runner in this race, I think it's up for grabs this year. Top 6-8 are all packed together through three aid stations...go Jon!

From marci on Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 19:46:04 from 75.169.138.34

JOn still looked good and "unnaturally loose and cheerful" at Temple Fork. He was there about 2:09pm and was 4th or 5th place. I wish the results would update faster....

From Paul on Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 20:04:06 from 65.103.252.214

Thanks for the update. Yeah, I've been hitting "refresh" a lot on the spreadsheet, but it's slow to update...but considering it's a 100-mile run in the boonies, I should be happy for any sort of "live" results!

From JD on Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 20:26:30 from 32.176.120.197

None of the lead pack seems to be spending any time at the aid stations. Got to love a competitive 100 mile race.

From Aaron Kennard on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 01:59:50 from 24.8.144.22

Jon!! Rockin' it still after mile 81 and in 4th place leaving Gibson Basin. Honeyfield and Foote were an hour ahead out of Gibson though, so Jon's going to have to pull something really amazing out to make up an hour on those two at this point...or they are going to have to crack, which is not totally unlikely with 20 miles to go. Except they left the mile 85 AS 25 minutes before Jon left mile 81. I think he's got a shot at 3rd place Jared Scott still though...only 30 minutes back!

From Jon on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 07:15:38 from 75.169.138.34

I'm kinda tired now. I think I'm going to sleep.

From Aaron Kennard on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 09:04:29 from 24.8.144.22

NO, Wait, don't go to sleep! At least tell us your finishing time/place first...they are really holding out on posting finish times on the live tracking

From catherine on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 10:49:26 from 69.169.157.242

Good job, Jon! (Eric and I were watching the spreadsheet a bunch yesterday.)

From Jon on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 12:21:19 from 75.169.138.34

Aaron- I imagine it will be a few days till my race report is up, so I'll throw you a bone. I finished in 4th- after being behind the 3rd place guy for 30+ minutes for several aid stations, I made up 20 minutes on him in the last 8 miles, but couldn't quite catch him. 20:49 finishing time. 7th fastest ever on the course. And Greatest. Crew. Ever.

From Jason McK on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 12:26:48 from 75.169.47.133

Congrats! I had a hard time sleeping - each time I woke up I'd refresh the spreadsheet. It was almost as good as the Olympics on the other side of the world. Way to go!

From Paul on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 12:28:47 from 174.27.187.235

Dave said that your aid stations were the definition of efficient. Other crews were impressed with your crew.

From Aaron Kennard on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 12:30:17 from 69.18.151.138

That's totally awesome Jon!!! Incredible and smart looking running out there. Your splits looked really even all day except early on when you got behind 15 min. Somehow and had to catch up. Look forward to hearing all about it, must have been an epic day.

And what a competitive field! Looks like from the finish results that Mike Foote may have lowered Geoff's course record!? Seriously amazing performance by you in such a deep and experienced field.

From allie on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 12:30:39 from 174.19.51.35

thanks for the update. i checked in on the spreadsheet around midnight and it looked like you were doing well. great job on the race. i can't even imagine...
