5k < 17 Personal: 400m/800m competitively in track in high school. Took 15 years off. Started running again in 2010. Married to my beautiful wife, Tiffany, with 2 little boys, now 4 and 6. I'm a civil engineer working for the Indiana DOT in Seymour, IN. I live in a slightly larger town about 20 miles north - Columbus, IN. Originally from Lexington, KY.

| AM Long Run - Grandview loop +Sawmill (hill) and some add on back in the neighborhood to get 3 hours. Super slow, and struggling badly with the heat. Ate 3 gels and a handheld of water. Felt mini-bonks 3 times. Think it got up to 80 deg. Sun ate me up when not in the cover and the trees around the lake. 3 hours - 20.81mi. Long road of 100M training started this week - the formula to success: lots of double long runs, and some stregth and conditioning addressing hip flexors and general leg strength to prepare for a long flat compacted agg. course.

| AM - easy 10 miles - 90:25. SR 11, People Trail (lots of bikes today), Goeller, Terrace Lake. Summer is here! Memorial Day weather - sunny and 75 degrees. Wonderful. Legs feel pretty terrible (tired and sore), but, shuffled 9 minute pace consistently (Is that good? )

| Lunch track workout: WU w/ 5xstrides (20-30sec), into 5x1k - 10 k effort in the heat:
3:42, 3:44, 3:40, 3:39, 3:41. 9.24 miles - 1:09:33 total
Several walks at work as well. Yep - still counting walking mileage.

| AM: walk on TM to WU for strength training. Core and Rowing for 20 minutes
noon in Greensburg. Meeting for work and then ran at lunch. Found a good 200m hill and hit it: 10 x 200m hills - about 45 second avg.
PM: Hoka demo at White River Run Shop in town at 6:15. Pretty cool - ran 4 miles in some Hokas. A bunch of cusion, but, those things are pretty expensive.

| 8am - Series 5k in Mill Race Park - hung with the guy who's been whooping me for about 2miles. 5:57, 5:49, 6:00 pace for partial (short course). 2nd Place and still struggling with 5k
9am - DINO Trail Race in Brown Co. State Park. 8.62 miles GPS, and about 1000' of elevation gain. Pretty tough course, and I struggled. Coming down one of the big decents I fell pretty hard and landed on shoulder, elbow, face. Other than that, quite an enjoyable race in the woods. 8.62 miles in 1:07:24 for about 8th place.
Feeling tired and very sore. Tough week.
