Ran with the South Jordan group today and did my first track work out.  The work out went:

1200, 400 recovery

800, 400 recovery

400, 400 recovery

2 mi tempo (1/2 marathon pace)

2 x 400, 400 recovery

2 x 200, 400 recovery

I felt really good until but it kicked my butt! I had a 3/4 mi warm up plus some extra after the 2 mile tempo and a little at the very end.  My knee is a little sore so I will ice today.

Ave Pace 8:01 (not including the 3/4 mile warm up)

Happy Running!

Kelli - last week was the first time I had come. I was a little scared and intimidated but everyone is so nice and the workouts are awesome.

It was nice meeting you today. I hope to get a chance to talk to you more next time. I can't believe you think you aren't fast. You did great.

From Cheryl on Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 10:45:13

Great job, Jody! We'll see you for another fun workout on Thursday.

Kelli--you are more than welcome to come to our group; I'm sure you'd fit in great. Just let me know your e-mail and I can put you on our list and let you know when and where our workouts are.

I, too, was glad to see you again, Jody. I'm glad you liked the workout, but I'm glad it kicked your butt a little bit! :) That's why we do that stuff in a group - so we can all complain together.

Kelli -- hope to see you sometime. Cheryl and I love new victims, I mean running group members!

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 15:06:49

Hmmmm....maybe I will hold off for a few years.

From peggy on Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 00:56:10

Kelli, I was totally kidding about the victim thing. We have a really good time at our running group, plus manage to get in some good workouts. We'd love to see you!

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 12:03:01

Peggy, it is really quite alright! I am good at playing the victim,it gives me more to complain about! I really will try to make it to something soon!

Great track workout!!! Did you make up that schedule beforehand or just make it up as you went?!?! That was quite complex to remember - or it would be for me (hee, hee). A little kicked butt every now and then is good for the body and soul, eh? (in retrospect, at least)

From Jody on Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 20:57:12

Laura,

I ran with a group in South Jordan and it was their planned work out - I ended up really liking the track work. The fact I could remember when I got home to blog it was a feat in itself.
