Ran today in Bellevue. I head out and did not my flat boreing run so went the other way.  Probably was not a good decision.  It was incredibly hilly, 12% grades.  I felt okay, the knee hung in there but, it was a very difficult run.  I am amazed at how much I have lost over the last 2 weeks.  The downhill was okay, just really slow.  A big thank you to the 7-11 that let me use their bathroom.  It was one of the cleanest public bathrooms I have ever been in.  Overall felt pretty good, I just cannot really get going or push off on my right leg.

Great job getting out and getting it done. I hope you are having fun and missing me running with you. I'm glad you felt pretty good. You will get it back it just takes a little time. See you tomorrow.

Wow that sounds like a tough run! I am glad your knee hung in there. You will gain back your fitness fast, I think its just usually in our head that we have lost more than we really have. Dont stress! Let me know what your plans are for this weekend. Have a fun trip!

Jody, thanks for your comments, kinda of miss your blog running entries. Hey, Bonnie mentioned the styrafoam roller for the back of the knee. I did it tonight and it seemed to help already. Don't know too much about your knee problem. But, if it is stiff behind the knee, the roller thing might help. Hope you get better soon.

Dog-gone that knee (family friendly -haha)!! Way to stick it out on the hills through the pain. You've got many, many more years of running - it's alright if your body needs a little more pampering, right? ;o) Hope you feel 100% soon, though.

Jody, what is happening with the knee? Please explain. I did some googling today, found some excerises to strenghten the inside of the quad. It seems from reading, my problem is likely a weak supporing inside quad that is causing the knee not to track correctly. Couple of the exercises:

1. Stand with both feet on stairs, stand on the bad (leg) knee, bend the bad leg and lower down until the good foot touches the stair below. Three sets of 12 with each leg.

2. Ankle weights - lay on your back and do 3 sets of 12 straight leg raises with each leg.

My leg is stiff behind the knee. Good luck. Hope we both make the stiders half.

Brent, The pain is right in my knee cap. I am thinking that I might be runners knee? The DTM helped and I am trying to get back again this week but my schedule is not letting it happen. I am going to run later tonight with Paula because I did not have time before catching my flight home this morning. I think it all happened due to tight calves and then tight quads after the 16 mile down hill run in St. George. I also have noticed that I am babying it a little more that necessary but out of fear of pain. If it doesn't get better soon I am thinking I need to see a sports med physician. Thanks for all the help!
