AM - 8 miles. Snuck in a few horsepark loops.

PM - 6 miles. I'm using the upper loop at Murray Park for a lot of afternoon runs (1K grass loop). Between that and horsepark, I can get a good amount of recovery running on soft surfaces, even when run-commuting.

USATF.TV's Alan Webb mini-documentary. Well worth the 12 minutes.

You look happy in the new picture.

I wish I had made an even more ridiculous face.

The photographer's response to this photo was "do you want to do that again?"

"nope, i bet it's perfect!"

All people who just won a 1/2 marathon should look that happy.

Gotta ask... What are horsepark loops.. For the past year I see that all the time. Is it like a horse race track that's the soft dirt?

Good question that comes up every couple months. I should link to the horsepark in my sidebar :-)

4500S/1500E. Big Cottonwood Park. 1.1 - 1.5 mile soft surface loops.

Andrea and I started calling it the horsepark several years ago. Sometimes there are dogs running around, which is great, and during the summer/fall people you'll occasionally see people in the trees dressed up in medieval costumes and hitting each other with foam weapons in some sort of very strange fantasy role-playing game.

got ya. There is this Horse Race Track here in SoJo and I've gone and ran around it several times .75 / lap but its like loose soft dirt so it's terrible footing but it's good to take some pounding off your legs. Thought you might have founds something similar. Thanks for clarifying.

They used to do a one mile race on the horse track near where I grew up in Saratoga Springs. I never did it, but guys who would run 4:20s couldn't even break 5 due to the soft footing. Much respect to horses for dealing with those sorts of non Rupp-certified conditions.
