AM - 6 miles. Ran the fifth mile quicker (5:14, 39S/Hi) and finished with a fast push up Murphy's Lane hill.

PM - 5 miles. Impromptu 5K on the tempo loop in 15:50 (5:12, 5:09, 4:59, 0:30). One mile up/down at a decent clip.

Not bad Jake.. Glad to see you on the rebound. Seeing any triple digit mileage weeks coming this winter?

I sure hope not! That would mean a dry winter... I plan on racking up the ski days.

Honestly I'm simply happy to be able to push myself a bit and run faster when I feel like it... and be healthy... and mix things up with a variety of other activities. I like running fast from time to time, but racing (and the focus that goes along with doing it well) isn't really what I want to get back into at this time. Too much other fun stuff going on :-)

Seems like a real healthy attitude you're taking with your running right now. Must feel liberating and rejuvenating.

Yeah, definitely.

I don't want to give the wrong impression - when I was running 20 miles/day and doing all the workouts and races, I got a lot of enjoyment from that and never felt "trapped" into doing it. I did it b/c I wanted to and was (mostly) having fun with it, and in the times where it was a grind, there was a purpose and mission that I embraced and got satisfaction from.

But right now it is very nice to run with no goals other than to feel good, run with Andrea again, and do a lot of other fun stuff too.

It's great to see you two able to run together.

That a nice impromptu 5k. I love impromptu workouts. They generally don't happen in structured training. One reason going with what feels right is so refreshing.

"Impromptu" is my training plan (or lack of plan) for the indefinite future. I'm actually getting into fairly good shape this way.
