Gotta love desert melons. They are similar to the desert melons grown here in the Columbia river basin but still different. Probably because of the alkalinity of the soil I'm not sure.

Yeah I guess it all has to do w/ the alkalinity of the soil. I wikipedia'd it a week ago :-) I always used to drive through Green River and think "no way they grow good fruit here!" but man I was wrong and missed out on several years of melons!

We'll ride in your jeep - I don't trust mine on slickrock at this point :-) It's become more of a melon transporter.
