AM - 10 miles. 10 x 600m in 1:46.0 average (5K goal pace, 90s). HHS track. Target was 1:45 and I could have given 1% more effort, so this demonstrates lack of focus. I've hit a mental lowpoint, which hopefully I'll snap out of soon.
PM - 8 miles.

Keep on keeping on.

Won't it take a week or two to adjust to the extra mileage bump? Maybe mentally too...
If you don't snap out of it, I'll send you the at-home electroshock therapy machine I invented.

The mileage bump IS my psychotherapy :-)
I've just got some other things to sort out... in some ways I don't feel like I should be writing vague comments like that, but I also want to keep it honest. Motivation / focus / confidence all ebb and flow... you have to push on through the downs and then ride the ups to the moon.

I've been at a mental low point for the last 6 years. Fortunately inertia and habit are powerful things...

A handful of sub 2:20s isn't bad for a mental lowpoint :-)
You're right through - despite thinking "I don't really want to do these" after one rep this morning, I was still able to do 9 more just going through the motions. So that's why I'm not too worried... I'll catch fire again.

"'I don't really want to do these'" seems closer to the right attitude than "I could do these all day." You're a marathoner; it's okay to hate 5k pace when it exceeds the length of a stride.
My better response: What's the next session look like?
