AM - 22 miles. It doesn't get much better than this. If my counting was correct, I think we had 33 guys meet for the long run this morning in Orem. Actually, 32 guys plus Kassi. We started with an out & back on the new Murdock trail, then I did a mile around the soccer fields while everything was getting drinks/GU (today was a scheduled depletion long run for me), and then we did an out & back up Provo Canyon. Kept the pace honest up the canyon, then turned around and did a little tempo on the way back. Fritz, Matt and I ran the first 3/4 mile together at around marathon effort, and then I did the next 3 miles in 15:24. "Cooled down" 2 more miles which were still pretty quick. Average pace for the whole run was 6:13 / mile. Felt good and I'm happy with how these first couple weeks of the cycle have gone.

Great running by a lot of guys today. I'm already looking forward to doing this again next weekend. I gotta say, these big group long runs are just so much fun. They're energizing for me, and I think we're very lucky to have such a great group to get out and hammer some miles with. I'm stealing this photo taken before we started from Justin - but I'm sure he doesn't mind...

Andrea and I are headed up to Park City for the night and some skiing tomorrow.

You need a few more women in that picture :)

Nice run this morning Jake! Someday I'll put on my big girl panties and try to run 10 while you do your 25! :)

Great run and great photo. The big group thing will have a positive impact on everybody. It makes me want to get back out and do a third run today.

Gotta say though, Utah must have some of the ugliest chaps in the US:) ONLY JOKING; you're all brutally handsome.

So you did the entire run without any carbs? Nicely done.

From allie on Sat, Dec 08, 2012 at 13:05:24 from 71.213.51.40

definitely capri pants weather today.

From Fritz on Sat, Dec 08, 2012 at 13:09:16 from 173.10.22.170

Great run Jake! You are running very well these days and it looked like you could have kept going for another 10. Next time I will try to toughen up and join you with a wind sprint at the end.

Capris were a good choice today, I have to admit.

From Redd on Sat, Dec 08, 2012 at 13:17:58 from 67.182.221.190

It was pretty great seeing you sprinting all out at the end of the run.

From Jake K on Sat, Dec 08, 2012 at 13:31:35 from 67.177.11.154

We are a beautiful bunch, but I agree that we need at least a few more ladies... even a 10/1 ratio wouldn't be too bad.

When is it NOT capri weather?

Melody - I've only done 2 long runs that I can think of in my entire life w/ carbs. One was last weekend. Its part of my program going forward. I'm going to figure this aspect of the marathon out.

Couple more BBall games and you'll be ready for the wind sprint, Fritz. It was all about a little fast twitch recruitment when the ST muscles were fried. Bam knows what I'm talking about!

Way impressive today Jake! Was fun to see you gradually pull away from me. You are an animal and you are in excellent shape.

So much fun to run with you guys today. I don't think your heels ever touched the ground, very smooth Jake. Super strong!

Grateful you made the trek down to our neck of the woods. I was great to run with you as usual.

Looks like a lot of fun. Maybe someday I'll get the nerve up and run with you guys. Although, I'd probably still run by myself because everyone would leave me in the dust because I'm a slow poke. LOL

Nice to get out there with you guys and I agree with Kevin, your end of run sprint was ridiculous. Looking forward to more long run hammering next Saturday.
