AM - 10 miles w/ Andrea, Fritz, and Kevin.

PM - 11.5 miles w/ Andrea on bike escort for most of it.

For a variety of reasons, didn't make it up to the mountains today. So pretty much a recovery day, other than the 2 runs, 200 pushups, 50 pullups, and washing the jeep really good.

The wheels in our heads are turning and we've been talking about maybe changing the fall focus to a December marathon for both of us (CIM?). That would be good w/ me... then I don't have to train too hard for the TOU marathon

Just added up my mileage and realized I did about 160 miles in the past 7 days. I honestly had no idea it was that high. No wonder Andrea has been getting mad at me for "exercising too much" :-)

I think you need an intervention. :D Definitely sounds like a solid plan.

You crack me up! I've heard good things about CIM and I'd like to run it.

50 pull ups and 200 Jaycorns! Suck my toes. I've got to increase my 20-a-day habit (push ups).

Are you planning to do the TOU half and marathon and then the CIM? Or, are you going to drop the TOU marathon and work on your 5k/10k speed in preparation for smashing through the 2:20 mark @ the CIM?

[Edit] Just read that back and it sounds as though I'm suggesting you work on your 5K/10K times - I'm not. I'm curious as to how you're going to approach your next marathon and how you are building up for the Olympic Trials etc.

Bam - the whole December marathon idea only came about recently... basically, I'll only run one if Andrea ends up deciding to run it. She can't really do the type of workouts to run to her capabilities in the 5K to HM range right now (due to her hamstring), but she seems to be able to handle increased mileage and marathon paced tempo runs w/out much of a problem.

I don't think she will make a decision until she is able to get in another month or more of solid, consistent mileage. So I'm still 100% going to run the TOU 1/2 and full. I'm sort of approaching it like I did my first marathon - huge base, run a few races to tune up, then just go out and see what happens. That strategy resulted in the best of my 3 marathons so far.

If I ran CIM, I'd definitely go all-in - reduce the mileage, do the quality workouts - get fast in the 10K-HM along the way. If I don't run CIM, then I'll probably just pick a competitive half around that time of year, and spend the rest of the fall working on more speed/threshold type training.

Lots of options!!!

We are really thinking about CIM also. I'm leaving it up to Allison. She keeps finding herself checking out hotels and past results. I'd say there's a good chance we'll be there.

Well then this thing could just turn out to be one big party! :-)

Seriously though, the best running "experience" of my life was going through the training last fall w/ Andrea and we were both chasing the OTQ. As hard as it was, there was something special about sharing the "trials of miles", if you will. It would be cool to not only do that again, but also have a lot of our friends targeting the same race. Be in it collectively - I think what we could all accomplish individually could be even greater if we were all after the same thing. It would be a heck of a lot of fun, too.

I'm thinking of doing CIM too. We should get a few more bloggers and go make our presence known in Northern Cali. Fritz can come be our tour guide.

Momentum is building! Love this idea!

Seriously, October and November are like the best months for training in Utah. Consistently cool every day, but there's no races here after StG. So CIM is really perfect timing.
