AM - 11 miles. Drove up to work today - a massive resupply of my food/clothes cache was needed - so I did an Emigration Canyon run from HCI. On the way back down I picked it up for a little bit (~Ruth's to Post Office)... 3 miles in 14:38 (4:59, 5:02, 4:36). Just focused on keeping my steps light and turnover quick - no overstriding. A little downhill running and strides sprinkled into what I'm doing right now should (hopefully) keep my neuromuscular system from forgetting how to move fast.

PM - 6.5 miles. Cloudy out so even though it was probably close to 100 degrees it didn't feel very hot. I need to get up in the alpine again soon... I have mountain fever and was daydreaming about places like this the whole run...

An extra 40 lbs and I'm sure you could have hit 4:34 downhill. Are you going to run Des News? If you didn't let Fritz pull you into all the excitement it would be a great training run for you.

We're going to be on vacation during Des News (going to Jackson). Otherwise I'd run the 10K. I'm not tough enough to run that marathon. No thank you!

That's a fun 3 mile stretch to get some turnover going. Do your coworkers know where you store your food?

Luckily I have a lot of cabinets in my office - and we have multiple fridges in the break room... there is always so much free food around here (still not sure why) that no one steals anything. Plus, no one really wants cans of vegetables and frozen spinach anyways :-)

Yeah, whatever! That's your normal daily training run.

I'd rather be in Jackson for the 24th too. You should try and hook up with Damian Stoy. He lives in Bozeman but I know he's in Jackson quite a bit.

That's wicked fast! I take it you didn't stop for biscuits the size of your head?!?

From Jake K on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 09:14:02 from 155.100.226.54

The bacon smelled soooooo good. I had to run away fast or else I wouldn't have made it back to work.

PS - I think I can run down the canyon almost as fast as I am willing to bike down it.

Holy crud that is fast!

From Jake K on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 09:54:18 from 155.100.226.54

Gravity does most of the work on that run. The human element is just avoiding the cyclists.

I would've stopped at Ruth's

Jake, where was that picture taken? I want to go there!!!

From Hamdog Alum on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 21:33:21 from 71.90.5.18

It has to be fun to run those canyons. Especially that fast!

Dale - that is the top of Pinchot Pass, about 160 miles into the John Muir Trail... so... not exactly a day hike :-)

Hummm...based on results, your neuromuscular system seems to be working. 4:36 is moving! Nice work!

From Rachelle on Fri, Jul 13, 2012 at 10:35:45 from 159.212.71.69

It was really nice last night. I made the mistake of going on a 30 min walk with my sister in a bunch of fields and have about 30 mesquito bits to show for it.

One of these weekends we need to hike Nebo.

From Jake K on Fri, Jul 13, 2012 at 10:37:42 from 155.100.226.54

I would like to go up Nebo sometime - not many realize its actually the highest point in the Wasatch (not Timp!)

Here is a recent TR that is pretty cool:

Very cool! I feel pretty pathetic that it's basically in my backyard and I've never done it.
