AM - 8.8 miles. Started from work and ran up Emigration to Ruth's, then back. On the return trip I decided to run the "zoo mile" faster. Hit it in 4:18, which is 10+ seconds faster than I've ever done it. I think I'm going to have to try and run this stretch all-out at some point this summer and see if I can dip under 4 minutes... I think once I get the muscular coordination down, I might be able to pull it off.

PM - 3.7 miles on the grass at SHP w/ Andrea.

Life is a zooooo.

I bet you could. All in due time...

It would get a giant quadruple-asterisk next to it, but still be fun :-)

The animals at the zoo were very noisy this morning. Maybe that's why I ran faster.

Sometimes my kids act like they live in the zoo. I bet they would make you run faster. lol

4:18 is fast!! What's the incline on that mile?

From Jake K on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 09:28:09 from 155.100.226.54

Very aided - its basically the first mile of running of the leopards 5K

From Lulu Walls on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 10:51:40 from 155.100.217.50

Holy crap! I don't think I can even bike that fast downhill.

Wow, Jake.

2000 miles down! Sub 4 even with a few asterisks is pretty sweet, just to be able to turn your legs over that fast is ridiculous

From Jake K on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 12:41:42 from 155.100.226.54

ha I didn't even realize I hit 2K this morning... honestly I didn't expect to approach it so quickly this year... less miles and more speed for a while now...

From Rachelle on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 15:53:02 from 199.190.170.30

I bet you actually rode one of Allie's favorite camels that mile. I heard camels can run 3:40 miles. :)

And they don't get thirsty either

From Hamdog Alum on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 19:43:30 from 71.82.247.163

Man aided or not, that is a fast mile for not having basically marathon legs right now. You must be feeling pretty good right now.

From Jon on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 20:40:52 from 74.177.127.77

My wife bought a 1/2 gallon (or whatever size they are now) of Moose Tracks ice cream today. I ate 3/4 within the hour, she ate the rest. It made me think of you. Just to creep you out.

From Jon on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 20:45:00 from 74.177.127.77

So you signing up for The North Face San Francisco yet?

From Jon on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 20:46:30 from 74.177.127.77

And just to complete the trifecta of blog stalker...

I think your blog has broken Paul's quantcast record for most visited ever. And especially most regular comments. Congrats. Most visited FRB page ever.

Erik - I do feel really good. There's no way I could have done that a week after UV or Philly last year. I can feel the wheels coming back. Playing it conservative w/ the miles right now - gonna try to keep it in the low 70s this week, and not increase too much more next week... instead continue to focus on getting the turnover feeling smooth and getting those fast twitch muscles to learn how to fire again.

Jon - On my original read of your comment, I thought it said 1 gallon of moose tracks, a size which I didn't think existed... got my hopes up! Nothing creepy about associating me w/ ice cream and a moose. I take it as a compliment.

No North Face. I've been looking at the calendar a lot the past week (as we all do after marathons!)... After the 1/2 champs, I'll just run whatever local circuit races I'm around for during the summer. Then we'll pick another sea level 1/2 to focus on for the late fall - maybe Vegas, or something in California.

I do plan on running (hopefully every week) the trails up at alta/snowbird this summer w/ Rob and his xc team, though!

From Steve on Thu, Apr 26, 2012 at 18:52:08 from 12.171.31.2

I'll come give a downhill mile a shot with you.

From Jake K on Fri, Apr 27, 2012 at 08:43:55 from 155.100.226.54

I figured you would Steve! We'll have to pick a time this summer and get a group together to go for it
