AM - 7 miles, treadmill. Fritz saw me, so I have to admit it. Decided to do this light workout in warmer conditions, a last chance for heat acclimation of sorts. Warmed up 2.5 and then 4 mile AT progression at 5:30, 5:20, 5:10, 5:00 (1%). Wore the FT6s and the bump on my heel bothered me a bit during the warmup, but it goes away once I get rolling. The achilles is feeling pretty decent the last couple days as well. I hit the big red emergency stop button just before the display said 7.5 miles on my cool down, that way I could still round it down. Gotta do something to hold on to whatever I have left of my blue-collar runner status... its dwindling away quickly!

PM - OFF. Home late, and I'm mentally fried from the day, so probably a good night to not run and get to sleep as early as possible.

aren't treadmills fun? You get to watch TVs, hit buttons, and watch the crossfit people do crazy exercises.

Glad to hear the achilles to holding up.

The TVs are too far away... my long distance eye sight is too poor to see them! Maybe I need to invest in a pair of prescription goggles, Horace Grant style.

Love the buttons. I wish life was setup like a treadmill. Lot's of blinky lights telling you how fast and hard it all is and buttons to control every aspect of it. And a big red button for when you've just had enough.

Great run, and I'm glad to hear your achilles is feeling better! I'm telling you, the heat acclimation works on the treadmill, good thinking. :) I vote "yes" to the Horace Grant goggles...

I was planning a treadmill run today but your anti-treadmill propaganda coerced me to do otherwise.

Glad to hear about the achilles. Excited for your race this weekend. Get ready!

I don't even know who you are anymore? But seriously I do think the heat acclimation is a good idea.

Do people stair at you when you are running that fast? I seriously don't think I've ever seen the belt move that fast on a treadmill!

From Rob on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 10:24:16 from 206.71.84.68

Yeah, Right? He's goes and gives the entire running population of Utah a complex about running on treadmills and then he starts running on treadmills.

What's the deal Krong?

From Bam on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 11:11:43 from 89.126.28.24

A little birdy told me that you've taken to running on treadmills so that while the beef-cakes are checking their biceps in the mirrors, you can stand next to them and admire the glistening glaze of your silky smooth girly legs and blow kisses at yourself:)

Nice 'run' Jake, glad the achilles is feelig better.

From Jake K on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 11:24:05 from 155.100.226.191

I'm never running outside again Rob. TMs are the new five fingers. Its all you need!

I still hold to my assessment that its much easier (mechanically, not taking other variables into account - we'd be here all day breaking that down!) to run faster paces on a TM. But that's good, especially the week of a race when I need to give myself more rest anyways. And I need to make sure I keep giving people a complex :-)

Bam - you should see Fritz pump iron. The guy is an animal... lifting 5 lb weights right over his head like its no big deal. He's gonna be the next Mr. Sugar House. Or maybe Rob. Hard to predict.

From allie on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 13:44:10 from 97.117.83.221

you can't be both the mayor and mr. sugar house in the same year. conflict of interest.

From SlowJoe on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 13:53:38 from 155.219.241.10

Hopefully the low humidity down there will make it feel cooler, although you may not have the "glistening glaze" Bam refers to without humidity. It's all a tradeoff.

From CollinAnderson on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 14:17:58 from 155.99.166.220

Just wait, soon you'll be doing 20 mile workouts on a treadmill, just like me. :)

From Bam on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 14:25:31 from 89.126.28.24

Congratulations on your treadmill run. "Haven't you run before?"

From Jake K on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 14:35:04 from 155.100.226.191

Collin - never!

Bam - That was quite an interview. She was talking to him like he was a 4 year old!

From CollinAnderson on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 14:36:20 from 155.99.166.220

When you win Phoenix, you should tell whoever interviews you that you've never actually run before.

From Jake K on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 14:42:28 from 155.100.226.191

I'm still waiting to see my post-TOU interview with Utah State TV, where I spent 90% of the time talking about how the skiing in Utah is better than Colorado.

From Matt Poulsen on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 17:57:09 from 98.202.242.213

Smart approach this week, Jake. I also have a Haglund's deformity on my right heel (I've always had it). Gets irritated sometimes. I've cut holes in several pairs of training shoes because of it (I haven't had to do this for awhile, though).

From Lulu Walls on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 18:08:49 from 166.70.240.95

Andrea wanted us to make sure you tapered, but she said nothing about getting you on the Treadmill. We are sooooo all in trouble :(
