AM - 10.3 miles. Ran w/ Bryan from the HCI - Sunnyside/Wasatch out & back. Gotta get him on the blog so he can be on our team for Boston. He's gonna be ready to PR this spring. Legs felt good... I'll do a short, light workout this afternoon when its nice and warm out.

PM - 7 miles. Warmed up a mile, then went right into the workout - 10 x 1/4 mile w/ 1/4 jog recovery. Average for the quarters was 69.4 seconds, and I kept the "jog" at ~6:20 pace. I did this on the same loop from my tempo run on Monday. Today was the first time I changed the settings on my Garmin 110 since I took it out of the box last summer - I used the auto-split every 0.25 miles setting instead of the standard 1.0 mile setting. Pretty useful for days when I can't get on the track. Breathing felt a little off because I haven't done any running at this pace in a while, but my legs felt nice and snappy. I'm reaping the benefits of the down week.

I've been saying this forever - don't wear high heels! :-)

You just don't want me to be taller than you!

From Jake K on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 10:41:52 from 155.100.226.54

You don't want that either - we'd look silly!

Are you doing an Open team for Boston?

From Jake K on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 10:47:29 from 155.100.226.54

I'd like to get one together. We'll have out work cut out to beat your master's dream team!

I better not read that article because I am obsessed with high heels. Maybe quitting my high heel addiction is the secret to me setting some new PR's. :)

Minus 1 minute off your Boston time for every 10% reduction in high-heel wearing! :-)

From ACorn on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 13:22:59 from 68.66.168.22

I am a sucker for high heels and in this case must disregard the inconvenient evidence. Let the heel wearing continue!

From Andrea on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 13:26:35 from 72.37.171.52

Wow Acorn - with you in heels, you must tower over your girlfriend!!

From ACorn on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 13:28:06 from 68.66.168.22

The secret is out! Let the record show that I towered over her even without them.

I'm 5'10, I don't wear high heels very often. So glad I don't! :)

From Jake K on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 15:49:06 from 155.100.226.54

Lily - you'd get recruited for the WNBA if you walked around in heels at 6 foot 3! :-)

From Jon on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 20:05:47 from 98.71.175.203

Jake, I'm above you on the mileage board. What's wrong? You're normally 50 miles past me by this time...

From Jake K on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 20:39:50 from 67.177.21.60

DOWN week, Jon... I'm learning how to rest! But don't worry, I put in my PM workout and I'm back ahead of you now :-)

Although you have an opportunity to kick my butt the rest of the week, because I'm going to continue to not run very much the next couple days.

From Jon on Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 21:18:45 from 98.71.175.203

Glad to hear. Rest is good. I'm sure you'll kick my butt next week and the rest of the year anyways.
