Jake, I am loving your shots lately! Ever run much in or around Vegas? I am headed there Friday to Monday.

Thanks James!
I can fortunately say that I have never run in Vegas. I've actually only been there once in my entire life, we swung through on our way to California to hike the John Muir Trail in 2010, and stayed with my aunt who lives there. Andrea and I spent 20 minutes on the strip before saying "this sucks" :-)
Here's a picture from my 20 minutes in Vegas:

Not sure if you have a car but I've heard there is some good trail running to the west of the city at Red Rocks Canyon.

Talk to Steve Anderson about running in Vegas.

James: Steve is definitely the expert on this. I ran the strip on day and got lost (flat terrain is hard to judge). If you go early it isn't bad and a lot of people actually run. It depends on your tolerance for the drunk, weird, and down-right sad. But that is if you don't have a car.
Red Rock Canyon is pretty cool. The trail I was on was rocky (not 100% runnable) but we were hiking. Jeff Shadley had some advice when I went but I can't quite remember where he said to go.

James, if you are in town more, try running out at the Clark County Wetlands Park (east of the Boulder Highway on Tropicana). Great trail system and fun running close to town.

Thanks guys. I plan on heading to red rock canyon at least once and will likely avoid the strip. Funny thing is we lived there for one school year but I had not run a day in my life.
