AM - 8.6 miles. Ran 5.5 w/ Andrea, then added on another loop around the block. We were planning on taking the day off and going hiking, but the weather isn't too great.

Been refreshing the CIM results all morning... awesome runs by Fritz and Emily B! No OTQs, but a pair of very impressive PRs. Also saw on Greg McMillan's twitter feed that Bonnie ran a 1/2 marathon PR today. Good job today bloggers!

PM - 4 miles.

Random question...

As I updated Fritz's marathon splits, I wondered, is there a reason they have the time mat placed at 5.9 miles, 13.1 and 20?

Seems like it would just be easy to put them at 1/4 marathon (6.55), 1/2 etc.

I have no idea why they would do a 5.9 split... if anything, a 6 mile or 10K split would have made a lot more sense. I think RDs usually just put them wherever its convenient. The bigger races (Chicago, NYC, etc) usually put them every 5K.

Thanks, I thought there may be some method to the madness. Apparently, it was just a convenient place to put the mat.
